Job Description

We’re looking for an Assistant Controller to join our finance team and play a key role in both managing our accounting team and driving in-depth accounting analysis for our loans business. The ideal candidate brings technical accounting background and a sharp analytical mindset, leveraging AI tools to improve and streamline processes.This role requires someone who can balance day-to-day team oversight with hands-on work in complex accounting areas, particularly around the loan portfolio and financial reporting.

The base salary for this role is: $95,000-$125,000
Location - Vancouver or PST/MST time zone (Remote)


What you’ll do:

Manage an accounting team, ensuring a timely and accurate execution of core functions

Own and enhance month-end close processes and internal controls, including identifying opportunities to integrate AI-powered tools for automation.

Perform deep-dive accounting analysis of complex transactions with a specific focus on our loan business

Support audit preparation and work with external auditors as needed.

Streamline and consolidate accounting processes across multiple businesses

Work closely with the Controller on key projects.

Assist with monthly, quarterly and annual financial reporting as necessary

Support audit preparation and work with external auditors as needed

Provide support to the Treasury function

Provide regular variance analysis on key financial information

What you'll need:

CPA with minimum 5 years progressive work experience is mandatory.

Previous experience in a public company and IFRS reporting is preferred. Financial services industry experience is definitely an asset.

Financial reporting experience.

Advanced experience using MS Excel; working knowledge of Netsuite.

Successful experience with process improvement/redesign and change management..

Quick learner and adaptable to a dynamic environment.

Strong interest in AI to improve accounting and financial reporting functions

Exceptional analytical skills and the ability to understand complex issues.

Self-starter with a high level of ownership and accountability.

Strong technical ability

Able to perform detailed variance analysis.

Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
