Assistant Controller

We’re looking for an Assistant Controller to join our finance team and play a key role in both managing our accounting team and driving in-depth accounting analysis for our loans business. The ideal candidate brings technical accounting background and a sharp analytical mindset, leveraging AI tools to improve and streamline processes.This role requires someone who can balance day-to-day team oversight with hands-on work in complex accounting areas, particularly around the loan portfolio and financial reporting.

The base salary for this role is: $95,000-$125,000
Location - Vancouver or PST/MST time zone (Remote)

What you’ll do:

●Manage an accounting team, ensuring a timely and accurate execution of core functions

●Own and enhance month-end close processes and internal controls, including identifying opportunities to integrate AI-powered tools for automation.

●Perform deep-dive accounting analysis of complex transactions with a specific focus on our loan business

●Support audit preparation and work with external auditors as needed.

●Streamline and consolidate accounting processes across multiple businesses

●Work closely with the Controller on key projects.

●Assist with monthly, quarterly and annual financial reporting as necessary

●Support audit preparation and work with external auditors as needed

●Provide support to the Treasury function

●Provide regular variance analysis on key financial information

What you'll need:

●CPA with minimum 5 years progressive work experience is mandatory.

●Previous experience in a public company and IFRS reporting is preferred. Financial services industry experience is definitely an asset.

●Financial reporting experience.

●Advanced experience using MS Excel; working knowledge of Netsuite.

●Successful experience with process improvement/redesign and change management..

●Quick learner and adaptable to a dynamic environment.

●Strong interest in AI to improve accounting and financial reporting functions

●Exceptional analytical skills and the ability to understand complex issues.

●Self-starter with a high level of ownership and accountability.

●Strong technical ability

●Able to perform detailed variance analysis.

●Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
