Position Summary:
The Controller will manage all accounting, financial reporting, and finance-related compliance functions, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and integrity in all financial aspects of our operations. This role is pivotal to shaping and implementing financial strategies in alignment with the growth of our Crypto business. The ideal candidate will possess a blend of traditional financial expertise and a strong understanding of cryptocurrency and blockchain technology.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operational Excellence: Identify opportunities to streamline and scale accounting processes, implement best practices, and leverage technology for greater efficiency across all Alpaca entities.
- Internal Controls: Support implementing and maintaining adequate internal controls to safeguard assets and ensure accurate financial reporting.
- Month-End Close: Help oversee and manage the month-end, multi-entity closing processes, including journal entries, reconciliations, and variance analysis.
- Financial Reporting: Assist in preparing consolidated annual financial statements in compliance with GAAP. Assist in the preparation of standalone financial statements for subsidiaries when applicable.
- Tax Compliance: Coordinate with third-party tax service providers to ensure compliance with federal, state, and international requirements.
- Audit Preparation: Coordinate with external auditors during audits and provide required documentation and analysis.
Qualifications:
- A bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field; CPA or equivalent certification is preferred.
- An advanced understanding of GAAP and familiarity with crypto accounting practices and standards are a plus. Knowledge of IFRS is also a plus.
- 5+ years of experience in accounting or finance, with a minimum of 3 years in a management-level role (experience in crypto, fintech, or technology sector preferred).
- Proficiency in accounting software (Sage Intacct a plus); experience with blockchain-based financial tools is highly desirable.
- Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with a strategic mindset and attention to detail.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-growth environment and adapt to evolving industry regulations.
