CG Modeler - Environment Assets
All applicants must be residents of British Columbia, Canada.
Must be legally entitled to work in Canada ie. Citizen, PR, Open Work Permit.
At this time, we’re pleased to offer this role as an option to work from home OR work from our Vancouver studio in the beautiful Gastown area, close to the Waterfront Station in Downtown. (Remote is not available outside of BC; there is no hybrid)

Summary of Position
The CG Modeler is responsible for creating character, prop, and set models that support the artistic goals and story concepts of the production.
Job Functions
- Create and maintain 3D models for use in production.
- Work with the Lead Environment Artist to help realize the aesthetic vision of the production.
- Work with scan data to reproduce or guide model aesthetics.
- Adjust UVs, topology of model deliverables, for downstream departments.
- Work with FX artists to produce specific geometry required for simulations.
- Ensure all deliverables meet the needs of all receiving departments.
- Meet deadlines established by Production Management.
Qualifications
- 3+ years of feature film or relevant industry experience (CG and/or Visual Effects).
- Ability to use Maya for the creation of both hard surface and organic models.
- Experience with Zbrush.
- Understanding and experience in the creation and use of geometry assets
,in a production setting,including optimization and LOD workflows. - Knowledge of polygonal, Nurbs, and subdivision surface types.
- Life drawing and sculpting experience, a plus.
- Experience with SpeedTree, Marvelous Designer, Houdini, MOTO, Mudbox, Photoshop, Inventor, TogoGun, a plus.
Additional information
- British Columbia Employees Pay Range: $40 - $60(The actual base salary offered will depend on a variety of factors, including without limitation, the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and if applicable, the location of the position)
- Zoic does not cover relocation costs.
- Any and all WFH positions require the candidate to have a reliable internet connection via ethernet and work on Pacific Standard Time.
