About the Role:
As a Business Systems Analyst at Abacus Insights, you will play a crucial role in onboarding a variety of healthcare data topics from varied systems into our foundational data models. You work will be the bases for the definition of data that support our clients’ analytics and business intelligence initiatives. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work on cutting-edge projects within the dynamic and complex healthcare payor space.
You Will:
- Onboard client source data into our foundation data models
- Explore source system data and align/map them to our internal foundational data models and subject area marts at the column & attribute level and align data grain
- Collaborate with our enterprise data model team and client stakeholders to ensure accurate data mappings
- Produce technical documentation including mapping and ELT documentation that our implementing data engineering teams will use to build data pipelines
- Understand and document specific client data requirements including non-functional and functional business requirements as well as relevant upstream and downstream data use cases
- Validate data pipelines for user acceptance against requirements
- Demonstrate a high level of accountability, taking ownership and contributing to the team's goals
- Assist in the development and maintenance of data documentation and metadata
- Troubleshoot and resolve data-related issues in a timely manner
- Communicate effectively and work efficiently across global teams
- Stay informed about updates in internal foundational data models and continue to expand knowledge of healthcare data domains, source data systems and structures
What We're Looking For:
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, health information management, data science or analysis, information technology, management information systems, or a related field.
- 3-5 years of experience working as a business or systems analyst with healthcare data and systems
- Experience with and onboarding payor data (membership, claims, clinical data etc.) for use in ELT pipelines is preferred
- Experience working with both commercial and medicare/medicaid data
- Experience being client facing, and interacting with clients to capture requirements and data nuances and for use by data engineers
- Strong working knowledge of SQL and relational database management systems (RDBMS)
- Familiarity with data warehousing concepts and ETL processes
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
- Excellent communication and technical writing skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a global team environment
- Experience working with source data of various types including nested data, HL7/EDI formats
- Eagerness to learn and adapt to new tools, technologies and methodologies
- Track record in championing innovation/automation
- Experience with or usage of snowflake and/or databricks is preferred
