Child Safety Specialist, Trust & Safety

Vimeo is seeking a talented and passionate Child Safety Specialist to join our growing Trust & Safety team! As the Child Safety Specialist, you will play a crucial role in developing, implementing, and enforcing policies and programs that protect children online. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure Vimeo remains a safe and positive environment for all users. This includes your expertise in identifying and addressing child sexual abuse material (CSAM), and other child protection issues. You possess a deep understanding of child safety challenges, excellent communication and collaboration skills, and a passion for creating a safer online world for children.
This role will be exposed to disturbing and/or sensitive content as part of day-to-day job duties.
What you will do:
- Develop, maintain, and update global policies focused on child safety, ensuring alignment with industry best practices and evolving legal and regulatory requirements, in close collaboration with the Legal team
- Evaluate the risk profile of new products and features, and influence cross-functional stakeholders to incorporate child safety considerations into product development
- Lead and manage cross-functional projects to enhance child safety on the platform, including developing new safety features, improving content moderation workflows, and implementing user education programs
- Define project scope, objectives, and deliverables, and develop detailed project plans with timelines, milestones, and resource allocation, specifically for child safety initiatives
- Track project progress, identify and mitigate potential risks and roadblocks, and ensure the timely and successful completion of child safety projects
- Collaborate closely with Engineering, Product, Research, and Operations teams to implement and evaluate new safety features and technologies aimed at protecting children
- Develop and deliver engaging training programs for content moderators and other stakeholders on child safety policies, best practices, and emerging threats, incorporating guidance from Legal on relevant laws and regulations
- Analyze data and metrics to measure the effectiveness of child safety programs and identify areas for improvement, using data-driven insights to inform policy and program decisions
- Conduct research and benchmark against industry best practices to identify and implement innovative solutions for online child safety, staying ahead of the curve
- Partner with external organizations and experts in the field of child safety to stay informed about the latest trends, challenges, and research findings
- Clearly communicate complex information about child safety policies and initiatives to diverse audiences, including leadership, product teams, and external partners
- Proactively identify, analyze, and mitigate risks to child safety, staying ahead of emerging threats and vulnerabilities through ongoing research and collaboration, consulting with
- Legal on any potential legal or compliance issues
- Track key metrics, create dashboards, and prepare reports to monitor the effectiveness of child safety efforts and drive data-driven decision-making
Skills and knowledge you should possess:
- 3+ years of experience in Trust & Safety, ideally in minor protection or child safety teams
- Deep understanding of child safety challenges, including knowledge of CSAM, grooming, and other child protection issues
- Proven ability to develop, implement, and maintain clear and effective content policies related to child safety
- Experience in program management, including project planning, execution, and stakeholder management
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to influence cross-functionally at various levels
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Ability to handle sensitive and disturbing content with maturity and professionalism
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience
Base Salary Range:
- NYC Metro, Bay Area, Seattle, & Los Angeles: $83,000 - $115,000
- All other US cities outside above metro areas: $74,700 - $103,500
