Job Description

Affirm is reinventing credit to make it more honest and friendly, giving consumers the flexibility to buy now and pay later without any hidden fees or compounding interest.

We are hiring a business-minded Contract Management Lead on the Vendor Legal team to negotiate a range of agreements varying in complexity and to oversee innovative contract operations. This role calls for deep collaboration and partnership with stakeholders across Legal, Finance, Product, and other internal stakeholders, as well as with vendors. You’ll be tasked with delivering quick turnarounds on contracts, finding creative solutions to big and small problems, supporting contract questions, and optimizing processes to support the business. The ideal person for this role will also be very ‘hands-on’ and equally adept at program execution and strategy development for the function.

What You'll Do

  • Negotiate and manage a broad range of vendor agreements, amendments, NDAs, and other contracts, varying from very simple to highly custom terms.

  • Support contract management, contract approval coordination, database management, and reporting.

  • Assist with the development, maintenance, and proofing of standard contract templates, training materials, knowledge management and contract analysis.

  • Help the team get things done by unblocking problems, strategically determining the best course of action, supporting escalations, and garnering XFN resources.

  • Develop and deliver training and enablement programs for various initiatives and teams, and provide ongoing counsel and assistance to business teams as requested.

  • Develop and implement policies, practices and guidance for contract operations, including training, guides and playbooks.

  • Manage and meet aggressive internal SLAs, and help juggle priorities in a fast-moving environment.

  • Manage and promote professional development and career growth for a high performing and talented team.

  • Participate in special assignments and provide ad hoc support as required.

The ideal candidate will also be able to support the following at a senior-level:

  • Collaborate with the team to strategize and improve on contract operations and initiatives, and regularly seek ways to optimize for speed, efficiency, and quality.

  • Liaise with Financial Partnerships, Legal Ops, and other cross functional teams as necessary on solution design and delivery.

  • Experience working with Ironclad and Zip.

  • Experience working with and properly leveraging legal AI tools.

What We Look For

  • You have 7+ years of experience in complex contract negotiation, contract management, and contract operations.

  • At least 4 years of in-depth experience with complex Ironclad, Zip and other third-party management related solutions.

  • You have spent most or all of your career in-house, working at fast-paced companies that value quick decision-making.

  • You adapt quickly to changing processes and new priorities – the only constant here is change.

  • Hands on program management experience driving complex, cross-functional projects.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Strong bias for action to get stuff done.

  • Extreme attention to detail, ability to adjust on the fly, problem-solving skills, proactivity and a great attitude.

  • A sense of urgency on all matters.

  • Highly responsive and proactive.

  • A team player mindset (no job is too big or too small).

  • Humility, integrity and a desire to be part of a strong, supportive team; you take your work seriously but not yourself.

Safe Remote Job Search Tips

Verify Employer Thoroughly

Research the company's identity thoroughly before applying. Check for a professional website with contacts, active social media, and LinkedIn profiles. Verify details across platforms and look for reviews on Glassdoor or Trustpilot to confirm legitimacy.

Never Pay to Get a Job

Legitimate employers never require payment for applications, training, background checks, or equipment. Always reject upfront payment requests or demands for bank details, even if they claim it's for purchasing necessary work gear on your behalf.

Safeguard Your Personal Information

Protect sensitive data like SSN, bank details, or ID copies. Share this only after accepting a formal, written job offer. Ensure it's submitted via a secure company system or portal, never through insecure channels like standard email attachments.

Scrutinize Communication & Interviews

Watch for communication red flags: poor grammar, generic emails (@gmail), vague details, or undue pressure. Be highly suspicious of interviews held only via text or chat apps; legitimate companies typically use video or phone calls.

Beware of Unrealistic Offers

If an offer's salary or benefits seem unrealistically high for the work involved, be cautious. Research standard pay for similar roles. Offers that appear 'too good to be true' are often scams designed to lure you into providing information or payment.

Insist on a Formal Contract

Always secure and review a formal, written job offer or employment contract before starting work or sharing final personal details. Ensure it clearly defines your role, compensation, key terms, and conditions to avoid misunderstandings or scams.
