Contract Product Designer
Job Description
Contract Product Designer (Remote)
Gifted Savings is looking for a freelance product designer to help shape and evolve our app experience while our founding designer is on paternity leave.
About Gifted Savings
Gifted Savings is a nonprofit organization gifting investments to change young people’s lives. By gifting students a $1,000 investment portfolio along with the knowledge to make it grow, we empower them to take control of their financial futures. We create meaningful opportunities for high school students to explore the value of investing, equipping them with real-world skills and experiences that last a lifetime.
The Gifted Savings high school program is facilitated through a custom-built web app, which allows students to track their gifted investment portfolios while delivering bite-sized, interactive lessons on investing education. As students progress through the program, they document their journey by sharing short video testimonials, offering insights into their personal growth and the impact of their new financial knowledge. The goal is to help students see the long-term power of saving and holding investments while fueling a growing conversation about financial well-being.
Gifted Savings has created a simple, scalable way for donors to gift investment assets directly to a large cohort of individual recipients (like all the students in a high school). On the recipient side, we make it simple for young people, many of whom may not otherwise have the chance to own appreciating assets, to hold and grow wealth.
Gifted Savings is a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit founded by serial entrepreneur, Farhad Mohit, with over $1B in exits — Flipagram (now TikTok), Shopzilla, and BizRate.
What You’ll Work On
Refine and evolve product flows — across both school-based and F&F experiences, including onboarding, user engagement, landing funnels, and learning moments.
Design and test new features — from first-touch experiences to lesson plan UX, in collaboration with product and engineering.
Support our upcoming school launches — help us ship clean, engaging experiences as we go live in 5 schools at the start of the academic year.
Contribute to the financial education journey — support the evolution of our online lesson plan and how it integrates with product flows and learning milestones.
Support marketing and communication needs — design flyers (Spanish and English), educator guides, social media templates, FAQs, and other assets as needed across both school and F&F initiatives.
Collaborate across teams — work closely with PMs, engineers, and leadership to move fast and stay grounded in user needs.
Adapt quickly to shifting priorities — jump in on fast-moving product or content needs that arise as we scale and test in real time.
What We’re Looking For
A strong, detail-oriented visual thinker who brings ideas to life with intention.
Comfortable designing across both product UX and communication design.
Experienced in Figma, Framer, and Adobe Creative Suite.
Able to think strategically and execute across multiple experience types (product, content, brand).
Startup or agile experience preferred — someone who thrives in ambiguity and iteration.
Self-directed and collaborative — async-friendly but comfortable joining weekly check-ins (e.g., Wednesdays at 4pm PT / 7pm ET).

Verify Employer Thoroughly
Research the company's identity thoroughly before applying. Check for a professional website with contacts, active social media, and LinkedIn profiles. Verify details across platforms and look for reviews on Glassdoor or Trustpilot to confirm legitimacy.
Never Pay to Get a Job
Legitimate employers never require payment for applications, training, background checks, or equipment. Always reject upfront payment requests or demands for bank details, even if they claim it's for purchasing necessary work gear on your behalf.
Safeguard Your Personal Information
Protect sensitive data like SSN, bank details, or ID copies. Share this only after accepting a formal, written job offer. Ensure it's submitted via a secure company system or portal, never through insecure channels like standard email attachments.
Scrutinize Communication & Interviews
Watch for communication red flags: poor grammar, generic emails (@gmail), vague details, or undue pressure. Be highly suspicious of interviews held only via text or chat apps; legitimate companies typically use video or phone calls.
Beware of Unrealistic Offers
If an offer's salary or benefits seem unrealistically high for the work involved, be cautious. Research standard pay for similar roles. Offers that appear 'too good to be true' are often scams designed to lure you into providing information or payment.
Insist on a Formal Contract
Always secure and review a formal, written job offer or employment contract before starting work or sharing final personal details. Ensure it clearly defines your role, compensation, key terms, and conditions to avoid misunderstandings or scams.
