We are seeking a highly analytical and proactive Corporate Finance Analyst to join our Finance & Strategy team, focusing on workforce planning, financial modeling, and process improvement. In this role, you will develop data-driven insights that inform strategic workforce decisions, partner cross-functionally to optimize workforce cost planning, and enhance operational efficiency and forecast accuracy through scalable models and automation. This high-impact role offers significant growth potential as our team and business continue to scale.

The ideal candidate possesses exceptional attention to detail and a passion for driving continuous improvement. Since F&S team members work cross-functionally on nearly all of our projects, candidates must have a willingness and ability to collaborate across Finance, People, and other business teams to drive results.

In this role, you can expect to:

  • Develop, maintain, and continuously improve key workforce planning models — including Stock-based Compensation and Equity Pool usage — that support both short- and long-term strategic goals
  • Partner with our Total Rewards team to ensure accuracy, alignment, and completeness of our workforce compensation assumptions
  • Perform variance analysis and provide insights on headcount, workforce costs (including compensation, benefits, and perks), and organizational design decisions
  • Prepare and present clear, concise, and data-driven analyses and dashboards to leadership — as well as support the preparation of our monthly and quarterly reporting to the CFO and Board of Directors
  • Leverage BI tools (Tableau, Hex) and our financial planning system (Pigment) to reduce manual work and enhance forecast accuracy in corporate models and reporting
  • Collaborate on cross-functional initiatives to support operational efficiency and cost optimization

You are a good fit if you have:

  • 2+ years of experience in corporate finance, FP&A, or a related analytical role
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Information Systems, or another quantitative or business-related field
  • Excellent attention to detail, with evidence of increasing autonomy in a prior role
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships and collaborate across all levels of the organization
  • Prior work examples that show your motivation and drive to improve and automate processes and models

You'll have an edge if you have:

  • Prior experience on a Corporate Finance team, with exposure to executive-level and/or Board reporting
  • Proficiency with tools such as Tableau, Hex, Pigment, Anaplan, Adaptive Insights, or similar FP&A platforms
  • Examples of cross-functional support and partnership with non-finance stakeholders

Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary: We offer competitive compensation packages commensurate with experience, including salary, equity, and where applicable, performance-based pay. Our Talent Acquisition Team can answer questions around dbt Lab’s total rewards during your interview process.

    • In select locations (including Boston, Chicago, Denver, Los Angeles, Philadelphia, New York City, San Francisco, Washington, DC, and Seattle), an alternate range may apply, as specified below.

    • Excellent healthcare
    • Paid Parental Leave

Safe Remote Job Search Tips

Verify Employer Thoroughly

Research the company's identity thoroughly before applying. Check for a professional website with contacts, active social media, and LinkedIn profiles. Verify details across platforms and look for reviews on Glassdoor or Trustpilot to confirm legitimacy.

Never Pay to Get a Job

Legitimate employers never require payment for applications, training, background checks, or equipment. Always reject upfront payment requests or demands for bank details, even if they claim it's for purchasing necessary work gear on your behalf.

Safeguard Your Personal Information

Protect sensitive data like SSN, bank details, or ID copies. Share this only after accepting a formal, written job offer. Ensure it's submitted via a secure company system or portal, never through insecure channels like standard email attachments.

Scrutinize Communication & Interviews

Watch for communication red flags: poor grammar, generic emails (@gmail), vague details, or undue pressure. Be highly suspicious of interviews held only via text or chat apps; legitimate companies typically use video or phone calls.

Beware of Unrealistic Offers

If an offer's salary or benefits seem unrealistically high for the work involved, be cautious. Research standard pay for similar roles. Offers that appear 'too good to be true' are often scams designed to lure you into providing information or payment.

Insist on a Formal Contract

Always secure and review a formal, written job offer or employment contract before starting work or sharing final personal details. Ensure it clearly defines your role, compensation, key terms, and conditions to avoid misunderstandings or scams.
