We are looking for a Customer Success Architect to join our Customer Engineering team to help our enterprise customers adopt and scale our cloud engineering platform.
This is a customer-facing engineering role focused on driving successful onboarding, implementation, and long-term technical success. You will act as a trusted advisor to some of the world’s most advanced cloud teams, helping them design scalable infrastructure solutions using Pulumi, while aligning with their business goals and cloud strategies.
You’ll lead technical engagements from initial implementation through adoption, providing hands-on guidance, architectural expertise, and proactive support. As part of the Customer Engineering team, you will collaborate closely with Account Executives, Product, and Engineering to deliver high-impact outcomes and continuously improve the customer experience contributing to Pulumi’s growth.
While Pulumi is headquartered in Seattle, WA we are dedicated to being a remote first company. This role will be based in Germany to support and align with our Europe-based customers.
In This Job You Will:
- Be accountable for success within a subset of named accounts through adoption, use case expansion, value realization, and (ultimately) revenue growth for Pulumi.
- Learn and be responsible for deliverables and reference architectures spanning programming languages, infrastructure providers, and open-source and commercial cloud services.
- Build deep relationships with practitioners and executives with our most valued customers.
- Work alongside account executives to map accounts and drive deeper engagement horizontally across your customer segment.
- Be a Subject Matter Expert in DevOps, cloud providers, dev best practices, and solutions architecture.
- Provide timely, responsive, and collaborative engagement with your assigned accounts, coordinating with distributed teams to accomplish asynchronous objectives and tasks.
- Partner closely with Pulumi leadership to build repeatable engagement and delivery models that delight our customers and expand resources under management as we expand the team and our capabilities.
- Close the loop between customers, product, and engineering teams, championing the product to the customer and bringing their requirements to the roadmap.
- Be challenged, solve new problems, teach about our technologies, and figure out new, better ways to delight our customers.
To Be Successful In This Role, You Have:
- 8+ years of experience in cloud architecture, professional services, or enterprise software engineering, with a focus on delivering complex technical solutions in customer environments.
- 5+ years in customer-facing roles guiding enterprise onboarding, implementation, and ongoing technical success.
- Proven ability to lead technical discovery, define architectures, and drive adoption of cloud infrastructure solutions from proof-of-concept through scale.
- Hands-on expertise with Infrastructure-as-Code tools such as Pulumi, Terraform, or AWS CDK, including authoring production-ready code.
- Proficiency in at least one programming language (e.g., Python, TypeScript, Go, Java, C#, F#) and ability to create maintainable, reusable code in real-world cloud automation projects.
- Strong understanding of cloud-native infrastructure (AWS, Azure, GCP), CI/CD pipelines, application modernization patterns, and open source technologies.
- Experience collaborating across technical and business stakeholders to deliver measurable outcomes, including risk mitigation, architectural best practices, and customer success plans.
- Proven ability to build and maintain strong professional relationships across technical and executive stakeholders, including developers, architects, and business leaders.
- Experience working as part of a larger integrated account team that includes Sales, Architect, Solutions Engineering, Post-Sales and Leadership.
- Experience delivering Executive-level QBRs, providing strategic updates on account health, revenue performance, ongoing initiatives and identifying risks across aligned accounts.
- Written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to tailor messaging to diverse audiences.
- Thrives in fast-paced, ambiguous environments; able to define direction, adapt quickly, and drive initiatives to completion.
Compensation:
- Base Salary Hiring Range: €118,000 to €167,000
- This role will include a 30% variable along with base salary.
- All full time employee offers at Pulumi include base salary, bonus/variable/commission, equity and benefits (details below).
