Job Description
Description
About Reserv
Reserv is an insurtech creating and incubating cutting-edge AI and automation technology to bring efficiency and simplicity to claims. Founded by insurtech veterans with deep experience in SaaS and digital claims, Reserv is venture-backed by Bain Capital and Altai Ventures and began operations in May 2022. We are focused on automating highly manual tasks to tackle long-standing problems in claims and set a new standard for TPAs, insurance technology providers, and adjusters alike.
We have ambitious (but attainable!) goals and need people who can work in an evolving environment. If building a leading TPA and the prospect of tackling the long-standing challenges of the claims role sounds exciting, we can’t wait to meet you.
About the role
As Data Analyst at Reserv, you will be defining our growth potential for years to come. You will be an integral part of Reserv’s data team, working with our customers to deliver high fidelity data and insights that improve the claims business.
For this role, we are seeking an analytics professional with strong Python and SQL skills and the desire to learn and grow in their role. This role will require you to own day to day analysis with our claims leaders, developing automated reporting for our larger customers and conducting analysis on new data assets to bring them into Reserv’s canonical data schema.
What we need
We need you to do all the things typical to the role:
- Work with our data stack: Python (Pandas to NLTK), Postgres, Looker, ECS, Docker etc.
- Serve as a technical liaison between Reserv and our largest customers
- Ship reporting code that solve for our customers needs
- Dive into and find improvements to our operational processes with the view to improving both the claimant experience and the economics of claims handling
- Communicate ideas and specifications through detailed, precise writing
- Influence the culture, values, and processes of a growing engineering team
- Enjoy and have fun being creative and thinking outside of the box. You will need to draw on analogous situations you’ve worked on before, but we are not traversing well-traveled roads. “Where we’re going, we don’t need roads!”
Requirements
- 3-5 years of experience in a data science or analytics role, preferably within the insurance and/or claims space, with experience working independently / in a small team.
- A proven ability to interface with high value customers and communicate with both technical and non technical audiences alike
- Have a proven track record of shipping high quality data analysis at a high cadence.
- A passion for building intuitive technology and a thirst for learning
- Able to think through customer requirements and prioritize what is a must-have, nice-to-have, or irrelevant
- Have a strong technical skillset but also the willingness and ability to take over tasks outside your core competency
Benefits
- Generous health-insurance package with nationwide coverage, vision, & dental
- 401(k) retirement plan with employer matching
- Competitive PTO policy – we want our employees fresh, healthy, happy, and energized!
- Generous family leave policy
- Work from anywhere to facilitate your work life balance
- Apple laptop, large second monitor, and other quality-of-life equipment you may want. Technology is something that should make your life easier, not harder!
At Reserv, we value diversity in backgrounds, perspectives, and life experiences and believe that diversity in viewpoints and critical thinking drives innovation, first-principles thinking, and success. We welcome applicants from all backgrounds and encourage those from all walks of life to apply. If you believe you are a good fit for this role, we would love to hear from you!
Safe Remote Job Search Tips
Verify Employer Thoroughly
Research the company's identity thoroughly before applying. Check for a professional website with contacts, active social media, and LinkedIn profiles. Verify details across platforms and look for reviews on Glassdoor or Trustpilot to confirm legitimacy.
Never Pay to Get a Job
Legitimate employers never require payment for applications, training, background checks, or equipment. Always reject upfront payment requests or demands for bank details, even if they claim it's for purchasing necessary work gear on your behalf.
Safeguard Your Personal Information
Protect sensitive data like SSN, bank details, or ID copies. Share this only after accepting a formal, written job offer. Ensure it's submitted via a secure company system or portal, never through insecure channels like standard email attachments.
Scrutinize Communication & Interviews
Watch for communication red flags: poor grammar, generic emails (@gmail), vague details, or undue pressure. Be highly suspicious of interviews held only via text or chat apps; legitimate companies typically use video or phone calls.
Beware of Unrealistic Offers
If an offer's salary or benefits seem unrealistically high for the work involved, be cautious. Research standard pay for similar roles. Offers that appear 'too good to be true' are often scams designed to lure you into providing information or payment.
Insist on a Formal Contract
Always secure and review a formal, written job offer or employment contract before starting work or sharing final personal details. Ensure it clearly defines your role, compensation, key terms, and conditions to avoid misunderstandings or scams.
