  • From Home / Beach / Mountain / Cafe / Anywhere!

  • We are a remote-first company with a globally distributed team. You can find your productive zone and work from there.

About the Role:

As a DevOps Lead at Sardine, you'll play a critical role in evolving our infrastructure and platform tooling to support a growing engineering team. This is a hands-on technical leadership role where you’ll drive key initiatives across deployment, observability, and developer productivity.

You’ll work closely with application engineers, QA, and cross-functional stakeholders to ensure our systems are reliable, scalable, and cost-efficient. The role involves building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines, improving system observability, optimizing cloud usage, and strengthening our platform’s resilience. While we have core tools in place, we’re looking for someone who can both own and elevate them by identifying gaps, improving automation, and proactively driving improvements.

This is an ideal role for someone who brings deep technical expertise, thrives in high-ownership environments, and is excited to shape the future of DevOps.

What you'll be doing:

  • Own and evolve our DevOps and platform engineering function, from build and deployment pipelines to monitoring, infrastructure as code, and cost optimization.

  • Design and maintain CI/CD pipelines that are secure, scalable, and built to support rapid product iterations without sacrificing stability.

  • Improve observability via Datadog, GCP, and custom dashboards.

  • Enable developer productivity by creating internal tooling, reusable modules, and simplifying infrastructure for other engineering teams.

  • Drive cost-efficiency and performance improvements across our infrastructure.

  • Help teams define and measure SLOs, SLIs, and SLAs, setting the standard for how we think about system health and reliability.

  • Play a key role in shaping our engineering culture, DevOps best practices, and influencing our long-term infrastructure roadmap.

  • Work cross-functionally with backend eng, security, finance, and other teams.

What you'll need:

  • 6+ years of experience in DevOps, SRE, or software engineering roles, ideally in fast-paced startup environments, including 2+ years leading as a tech lead or engineering manager.

  • Proficiency in Python or Go, with strong software engineering fundamentals.

  • Proven ownership of production infrastructure and platform tooling, with strong debugging skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex distributed systems.

  • Deep experience with Kubernetes and tools like ArgoCD, Helm, and Terraform.

  • Familiarity with GCP (preferred) or other major cloud providers, with a focus on cost and performance optimization.

  • Strong experience building CI/CD pipelines and internal developer tooling from the ground up.

  • Hands-on experience with observability tools like Prometheus or Datadog, and participation in an on-call rotation.

Compensation: Base pay range of $180,000 - $220,000 + Series C equity with tremendous upside potential + Attractive benefits

Safe Remote Job Search Tips

Verify Employer Thoroughly

Research the company's identity thoroughly before applying. Check for a professional website with contacts, active social media, and LinkedIn profiles. Verify details across platforms and look for reviews on Glassdoor or Trustpilot to confirm legitimacy.

Never Pay to Get a Job

Legitimate employers never require payment for applications, training, background checks, or equipment. Always reject upfront payment requests or demands for bank details, even if they claim it's for purchasing necessary work gear on your behalf.

Safeguard Your Personal Information

Protect sensitive data like SSN, bank details, or ID copies. Share this only after accepting a formal, written job offer. Ensure it's submitted via a secure company system or portal, never through insecure channels like standard email attachments.

Scrutinize Communication & Interviews

Watch for communication red flags: poor grammar, generic emails (@gmail), vague details, or undue pressure. Be highly suspicious of interviews held only via text or chat apps; legitimate companies typically use video or phone calls.

Beware of Unrealistic Offers

If an offer's salary or benefits seem unrealistically high for the work involved, be cautious. Research standard pay for similar roles. Offers that appear 'too good to be true' are often scams designed to lure you into providing information or payment.

Insist on a Formal Contract

Always secure and review a formal, written job offer or employment contract before starting work or sharing final personal details. Ensure it clearly defines your role, compensation, key terms, and conditions to avoid misunderstandings or scams.
