Job Description

At Mogo, we’re on a mission to help Canadians get financially fit. As we scale our line of credit product, we’re looking for a Director-level Credit Risk pro to lead the charge on IFRS 9 modeling (PD/ECL), collections strategy, and loan loss forecasting — all with a laser focus on the unique dynamics of subprime lending.

This is a high-impact IC role where you'll own critical risk models, shape collections strategies, and drive insight into credit performance across the portfolio. You’ll also have the opportunity to explore and apply AI tools and advanced analytics to push the boundaries of credit decisioning. If you’re equal parts strategist, builder, and hands-on analyst — this role is for you.

Base salary for this role: $130,000-170,000

What You’ll Do:

  • Build, refine, and own IFRS 9 PD/ECL models for our credit products
  • Lead loan loss forecasting and macroeconomic scenario analysis
  • Design and optimize collections strategies and recovery segmentation
  • Partner with Finance, Product, and Data teams to drive smarter credit decisions
  • Explore and apply AI/ML models or tools for credit risk prediction, segmentation, or automation
  • Own model governance, documentation, and validation
  • Be a thought partner across the org on credit policy, risk appetite, and product risk design
  • Dive into portfolio trends, delinquencies, roll rates, and forward flow risk
  • What You Bring:
8+ years in credit risk, analytics, or modeling — ideally in consumer lending
  • Deep experience with IFRS 9, PD/ECL, and subprime portfolios
  • Strong collections strategy experience (early/loss stage & recoveries)
  • Advanced skills in Python or SQL
  • Interest or experience in using AI tools (e.g., ML models, NLP, automation platforms) for credit risk modeling or process optimization
  • Sharp communicator who can translate complex models into real-world impact

Benefits of working with us:

  • ALWAYS FULLY REMOTE WORK - Enjoy the flexibility of remote work, supported by necessary resources #LI-Remote
  • Comprehensive Health and Wellness - Access medical, dental, and vision coverage plus a Health Spending Account
  • Stock Options - Have a stake in the company's success through stock options
  • Flex Vacation - Benefit from paid time off, including vacation days, holidays, and personal days
  • Wellbeing Programs - Access counselling services, mental health support, and additional wellness resources

Safe Remote Job Search Tips

Verify Employer Thoroughly

Research the company's identity thoroughly before applying. Check for a professional website with contacts, active social media, and LinkedIn profiles. Verify details across platforms and look for reviews on Glassdoor or Trustpilot to confirm legitimacy.

Never Pay to Get a Job

Legitimate employers never require payment for applications, training, background checks, or equipment. Always reject upfront payment requests or demands for bank details, even if they claim it's for purchasing necessary work gear on your behalf.

Safeguard Your Personal Information

Protect sensitive data like SSN, bank details, or ID copies. Share this only after accepting a formal, written job offer. Ensure it's submitted via a secure company system or portal, never through insecure channels like standard email attachments.

Scrutinize Communication & Interviews

Watch for communication red flags: poor grammar, generic emails (@gmail), vague details, or undue pressure. Be highly suspicious of interviews held only via text or chat apps; legitimate companies typically use video or phone calls.

Beware of Unrealistic Offers

If an offer's salary or benefits seem unrealistically high for the work involved, be cautious. Research standard pay for similar roles. Offers that appear 'too good to be true' are often scams designed to lure you into providing information or payment.

Insist on a Formal Contract

Always secure and review a formal, written job offer or employment contract before starting work or sharing final personal details. Ensure it clearly defines your role, compensation, key terms, and conditions to avoid misunderstandings or scams.
