Bring your expertise and enthusiasm to our growing, global organization. Your contributions, collaboration, and unique point of view are recognized and valued here.

Impact of a Director, Developer Advocacy

As the Director, Developer Advocacy, you’ll lead our global Developer Advocacy team, reporting directly to our CTO. You’ll set the strategy, mentor the team, and shape conversations that make Platform.sh the go‑to choice for developers - through content, community, and authentic engagement.

Our Developer Advocates create clear, inspiring content (like this), maintain public documentation, and help developers discover, understand, and succeed with Platform.sh. From blogs and demos to Discord threads and conference keynotes, this team makes our platform more accessible and approachable.

Your work builds trust. You’ll be the bridge between developers and our internal teams (Product, Engineering, and Marketing) surfacing feedback, removing friction, and ensuring the developer experience stays at the heart of how we grow. You’ll define and track key KPIs - like community growth, content engagement, and developer NPS - and continuously evolve strategy based on these metrics. You’ll translate market and community insights into strategic advocacy programs, champion the developers perspective across the business, and foster a culture of innovation (with new formats and technologies) that drives meaningful product and platform improvements.

What to expect
  • Lead with clarity and care: You’ll grow and support a high-performing team of Developer Advocates - setting clear KPI and goals, building strong feedback loops, and fostering a collaborative, high trust culture that empowers through diverse perspectives rooted in curiosity and creativity.

  • Collaborate with purpose: You’ll partner closely with Product, Engineering, Marketing, and Sales to align on priorities, share insights, and advocate for the developer voice - bringing feedback into conversations and influencing decisions that shape the roadmap.

  • Create with impact: You’ll guide technical experiments across frameworks, tools, and features - converting findings into high-value content like documentation, blogs, demos, videos, and talks that deepen understanding and adoption.

  • Grow connected communities: you’ll design and scale thoughtful community programs - from open-source and education to event-driven initiatives - that inspire engagement, surface feedback, and extend out reach within developer ecosystems.

  • Evolve with empathy: You’ll champion diverse developer needs - crafting solutions that serve new users, power users, and everyone in between. You’ll adapt on the fly based on real-world feedback, usage data, and a rapidly shifting ecosystem.

  • Experiment with intention: You’ll foster a culture of continuous learning - encouraging your team to explore new formats like livestreams, podcasts, and hackathons, and to iterate quickly based on what resonates.

  • Represent with confidence: Whether on stage or online, you'll be a trusted voice for Platform.sh - leading at events, connecting with technical audiences, and elevating the developer experience by removing friction and sharing insight back with our teams.

What you bring
  • A collaborative spirit and ability to align technical advocacy with company goals

  • A deep understanding of developer needs - and a track record of turning feedback into meaningful impact and content improvements

  • 5+ years in Developer Advocacy or Relations, with at least 2 years leading the team and strategy

  • Proven experience designing and scaling advocacy programs that build trust, drive developer adoption and strengthen developer communities

  • Strong technical fluency in modern web frameworks and cloud platforms - comfortable deploying, optimizing, and experimenting hands-on

  • Strong writing chops—able to translate complex technical concepts into clear, engaging content across formats

  • A commitment to inclusive leadership - mentoring with care, elevating diverse perspectives, and building teams that reflect the communities we serve

Safe Remote Job Search Tips

Verify Employer Thoroughly

Research the company's identity thoroughly before applying. Check for a professional website with contacts, active social media, and LinkedIn profiles. Verify details across platforms and look for reviews on Glassdoor or Trustpilot to confirm legitimacy.

Never Pay to Get a Job

Legitimate employers never require payment for applications, training, background checks, or equipment. Always reject upfront payment requests or demands for bank details, even if they claim it's for purchasing necessary work gear on your behalf.

Safeguard Your Personal Information

Protect sensitive data like SSN, bank details, or ID copies. Share this only after accepting a formal, written job offer. Ensure it's submitted via a secure company system or portal, never through insecure channels like standard email attachments.

Scrutinize Communication & Interviews

Watch for communication red flags: poor grammar, generic emails (@gmail), vague details, or undue pressure. Be highly suspicious of interviews held only via text or chat apps; legitimate companies typically use video or phone calls.

Beware of Unrealistic Offers

If an offer's salary or benefits seem unrealistically high for the work involved, be cautious. Research standard pay for similar roles. Offers that appear 'too good to be true' are often scams designed to lure you into providing information or payment.

Insist on a Formal Contract

Always secure and review a formal, written job offer or employment contract before starting work or sharing final personal details. Ensure it clearly defines your role, compensation, key terms, and conditions to avoid misunderstandings or scams.
