Position Summary

At Harness, the Director of Product Marketing for Security will lead the messaging and go-to-market (GTM) strategy for our Security portfolio. You will define and evolve the positioning, messaging, and narrative that clearly differentiates Harness as the leading AI-native platform for secure, modern software delivery.

This is a strategic leadership role requiring deep domain expertise in DevSecOps and application security, strong cross-functional collaboration, and a passion for enabling both customer outcomes and commercial success. You’ll partner closely with executive leadership, Product, Sales, and Demand Generation to bring our Security vision to market and scale impact globally.

We’re looking for a technically fluent product marketing leader who can synthesize complex security topics into compelling messaging, inspire GTM execution, and guide teams in shaping how the market views security in CI/CD and cloud-native environments

About the role

  • Own and evolve the product marketing strategy for Harness’ Security offerings, grounded in market trends, buyer needs, and platform differentiation.
  • Build a clear and authoritative narrative that positions Harness as a category leader in DevSecOps and secure software delivery.
  • Lead creation and execution of messaging frameworks, value propositions, and competitive positioning to support product launches, campaigns, and analyst relations.
  • Oversee development of all customer-facing content including blogs, solution briefs, pitch decks, campaign copy, and videos — ensuring consistent voice, tone, and relevance to security stakeholders.
  • Enable go-to-market teams (sales, customer success, partners) through ongoing training, playbooks, and objection handling aligned to our security products.
  • Partner with Product Management to provide market feedback and shape the security roadmap, working as a strategic advisor on market fit and differentiation.
  • Represent Harness at industry events, security conferences, and webinars as a thought leader in DevSecOps and AppSec.
  • Lead competitive and market intelligence efforts, staying ahead of evolving market dynamics across AppSec, cloud security, software supply chain, and governance.
  • Identify, source, and amplify customer success stories that reinforce Harness’ security impact.
  • Mentor and potentially grow a team of security-focused product marketers as the business scales

About you

  • 10+ years of experience in product marketing, product management, or technical GTM roles, with at least 3 years in a leadership capacity.
  • Deep knowledge of Application Security, DevSecOps, Secure SDLC, or Cloud Security tools and trends.
  • Proven ability to own GTM strategy and execution for security-related products or platforms in the enterprise SaaS space.
  • Strong communicator and storyteller, capable of translating complex technical ideas into differentiated, accessible messaging.
  • Experience collaborating closely with Sales, Product, and Demand Gen to drive measurable business outcomes.
  • Demonstrated executive presence with strong writing, presenting, and leadership skills.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset, thrives in high-growth, fast-paced environments.
Bonus: experience marketing to developers, security engineers, or compliance leaders in the software delivery lifecycle.

Safe Remote Job Search Tips

Verify Employer Thoroughly

Research the company's identity thoroughly before applying. Check for a professional website with contacts, active social media, and LinkedIn profiles. Verify details across platforms and look for reviews on Glassdoor or Trustpilot to confirm legitimacy.

Never Pay to Get a Job

Legitimate employers never require payment for applications, training, background checks, or equipment. Always reject upfront payment requests or demands for bank details, even if they claim it's for purchasing necessary work gear on your behalf.

Safeguard Your Personal Information

Protect sensitive data like SSN, bank details, or ID copies. Share this only after accepting a formal, written job offer. Ensure it's submitted via a secure company system or portal, never through insecure channels like standard email attachments.

Scrutinize Communication & Interviews

Watch for communication red flags: poor grammar, generic emails (@gmail), vague details, or undue pressure. Be highly suspicious of interviews held only via text or chat apps; legitimate companies typically use video or phone calls.

Beware of Unrealistic Offers

If an offer's salary or benefits seem unrealistically high for the work involved, be cautious. Research standard pay for similar roles. Offers that appear 'too good to be true' are often scams designed to lure you into providing information or payment.

Insist on a Formal Contract

Always secure and review a formal, written job offer or employment contract before starting work or sharing final personal details. Ensure it clearly defines your role, compensation, key terms, and conditions to avoid misunderstandings or scams.
