Job Description

As the Director, Product Design, you will help define and drive the future of Rockbot product design and user research efforts. You'll identify opportunities, collaborate on product strategy, and empower teams to push the boundaries of what’s possible. You have a clear vision of the future of user experience, business, and the product. You have the courage to pursue product design that can impact the Rockbot platform and the ecosystem of products we plan to build.

You will be responsible for managing and growing our team of design, and research, supporting them to uncover, synthesize and deliver high-impact insights that help increase trust, safety and create delightful experiences for our customers. As a passionate leader and research practitioner, you will bring your expertise to evolve our design & research process, evaluate and refine our tools and provide ongoing coaching and mentorship to help each team member flourish and increase their impact. In addition, you will champion and uphold design rigor and our responsibility to embrace our customer diversity. You'll report to our Senior Vice President of Product.

About The Team

Our Product Design team is leading the way by contributing insights and ideas that help shape product strategy, company initiatives and identify new opportunities that will fundamentally improve experiences in physical places using music, signage, tv and other media. Understanding our customers' needs, behaviors, and emotions are central to achieving our mission to help businesses and brands deliver unique customer experiences using our media streaming platform.

What You'll Do

  • Manage a team of product designers to improve their craft and capitalize on their strengths and potential
  • Own our end-to-end design & research process and operations, ensuring the integrity of insights and deliverables; removing obstacles that keep the design team from doing their best work
  • Partner closely with PMs and other leaders in the organization to understand our most important design & research needs
  • Launch user research program to expand our team's capabilities and capacity
  • Champion your team's insights toward achieving our mission, sustaining an informed and empathetic organization, and inspiring people with research
  • Step in to support hands-on design work and research as needed

What You’ll Bring

  • 3+ years of leading & managing product design teams
  • 6+ years of working collaboratively with engineering, product and research teams
  • Track record of successfully applying end-to-end UX design & research to build great web & mobile products and experiences
  • Experience growing and managing a design team of varying levels
  • Experience guiding the team to provide actionable insights to research questions and business goals
  • Good judgment and self-direction
  • Excellent communication, presentation, interpersonal and analytical skills; the ability to inspire different audiences across the organization with research
  • Ability to see patterns in the day-to-day work and connect them to our big-picture product strategies and user experience visions

Compensation:

Rockbot takes a market-based approach to pay, and pay may vary depending on your location in the U.S. The successful candidate’s starting pay will be determined based on job-related skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions. These ranges may be modified in the future.

The compensation band for this role is $200,000 - $240,000, as well as equity, and benefits for all team members.
