They have an “all-in” disposition towards work, understanding that we are a fast-paced, high-growth organization with evolving priorities. They feel strongly about being part of a team that advocates for people to live longer and better lives.
About the Role
Hone is looking for a clinically fluent, SEO-savvy Editorial Lead, Health to oversee the day-to-day execution of evergreen health content on our blog, The Edge. You’ll be responsible for publishing high-quality, consumer-facing articles on health topics that impact men and women in midlife, including hormone health, perimenopause and menopause, weight management, and lifestyle changes that impact health. You’ll turn complex medical topics into clear, actionable content that earns trust, drives engagement, and performs in search.
This role is ideal for an experienced health editor who thrives in a high-growth, high-expectation environment and can thread the needle between clinical rigor, consumer accessibility, and search engine optimization. You’ll ensure every piece we publish is accurate, useful, and engineered to rank.
About You:
You’re a scientifically literate editorial leader who thrives at the intersection of health research, audience-focused storytelling, and search engine optimization. You question studies, translate and contextualize clinical findings, and apply insights to deliver content that ranks, informs, earns trust, and converts.
You’re equal parts strategist and hands-on editor. You hold high standards, move fast, and don’t settle for content that’s “good enough.” Your digital Rolodex is packed with science-literate writers and expert sources. You know how to make complex science conversational and engaging.
You closely follow evolutions in organic search and know how to future-proof your content accordingly. What’s more, you understand how to turn traffic into action: You know how to structure content that drives newsletter signups, membership interest, or product exploration—without sounding salesy or losing editorial integrity.
Please note:
This role is not a fit for candidates whose experience is limited to general wellness, affiliate health content, or medical publishing geared exclusively toward clinicians. We’re looking for someone who can bridge scientific rigor with real-world relevance—producing work that holds up to expert scrutiny while resonating with a consumer audience hungry for trustworthy, forward-thinking health advice.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Oversee the production of evergreen health content for Hone’s blog, The Edge. You’ll assign and edit ~15 articles per month (a mix of new content and updates), helping readers understand hormone health, longevity science, and health optimization.
- Work with freelancers, medical reviewers, and SEO to ensure all content meets rigorous standards for accuracy, authority, and search performance
- Stay ahead of evolving health science by monitoring medical journals, conferences, and podcasts—then translate those insights into digestible, actionable articles that educate and empower readers without oversimplification or hype
- Collaborate with the CRO team to optimize content for conversions including newsletter signups, PDP visits, and membership interest
- Analyze content performance in collaboration with the Senior Editorial Director and SEO Manager and continuously refine editorial strategy
- Occasionally collaborate with other editorial team members on timely topics or high-impact editorial priorities
Qualifications:
- 10+ years of experience editing scientifically rigorous consumer health content. Ideally, you’ve worked at a D2C health brand, science-focused media company, or health institution with a strong SEO strategy
- Deep knowledge of men’s hormone health, perimenopause/menopause, and the science of aging
- Strong experience interpreting and translating clinical research into accessible content, with the ability to critically evaluate studies and communicate real-world relevance
- Exceptional organizational skills with experience managing multiple deadlines, freelancers, and stakeholders
- Robust knowledge of current SEO best practices, with hands-on experience using tools like Ahrefs, SEMrush, Google Analytics (GA4), and Google Search Console. Familiarity with evolving search trends, including AI Overviews (AIO) and generative search
- Strong data literacy, with the ability to use performance and engagement analytics to inform editorial decisions and track success
- A track record of driving content that has positively impacted business objectives, such as driving acquisition, boosting SERP rankings, or enhancing brand awareness
- A passion for health, longevity, and evidence-based wellness, with a commitment to scientific integrity and consumer education
- Affiliation with professional health journalism or science writing organizations (e.g., AHCJ, NASW, Society for Health Communication) is a plus
To Apply
Please submit your resume and links to three pieces of work you’ve written or edited that reflect your approach to clinically rigorous, science-backed, consumer-friendly health content.
Compensation range: $100,000—$140,000 USD, depending on experience
