Lead the teams building the future of Xero’s Frontend Platform and Design Systems. As theEngineering Team Lead, you’ll be accountable for the engineering of Xero’s frontend systems and shared UI. Your pods will develop the foundational frontend components and systems used across all of Xero's products, enabling teams to build consistent and cohesive experiences with ease.
This includes building Xero’s Design Systems from UI components as small as a button, to complex dashboard experiences enabling each to be built across the business with minimal effort and in a consistent manner. Your teams will also be building our frontend platform elements such as accelerators and pipelines, enabling Xero’s product teams to build high quality frontends with ease. What you'll bring:
- Must have a technical background with previous experience as a Front-end Engineer.
- Experience managing software delivery/engineering teams using Lean-Agile methodologies.
-Strong understanding of modern software delivery practices and lifecycle.

What you'll do:
Team Management & Development:
- Manage engineers, support their development, and foster a positive, high-performing engineering culture.
- Coach the team, provide feedback, and drive engagement.
- Attract, recruit, and retain talent.
- Facilitate team events.
Engineering & Delivery:
- Ensure effective delivery pipeline, systems, and product health.
- Drive engineering initiatives, ensure progress towards goals, and advocate for engineering standards.
- Oversee estimates, delivery forecasting, and reporting.
- Troubleshoot production issues and ensure post-incident learnings.
Collaboration & Communication:
- Maintain relationships with product peers and stakeholders.
- Communicate technical risks and provide information to stakeholders.
Continuous Improvement:
- Drive continuous improvement and stay updated on emerging practices.
- Team delivers high-quality software that meets customer needs and Xero's standards, with a predictable pace.
- Accurate and timely information is provided to stakeholders.
- Team members understand their contributions, development areas, and growth opportunities.
- Team members are engaged, empowered, and receive regular feedback.
- Good performance is recognised, and poor performance is managed.
