Job Description
Food has lost its soul to modern convenience. And with it, has lost the power to nourish, inspire, and connect us. So in 2018, CookUnity was founded as the first-of-its-kind platform that connects the world with the source of truly great food: chefs. Today, CookUnity delivers 35 million meals a year from the industry’s best chefs to homes all over the country. Fresh. Ready-to-eat. And crafted with the passion that nourishes body and soul.
Unwilling to stop there, CookUnity is expanding beyond delivery to become an ever-innovating marketplace focused on our singular mission: empower Chefs to nourish the world.
If that mission has you hungry in more ways than one, you’ve found the right job posting.
About the role
CookUnity is reimagining how people discover and enjoy amazing food. We are in the process of redefining and rebuilding our platform, but also how we build. Are you generalist technologist who can switch hats—Product Manager, Product Owner, individual contributor—sometimes all in the same afternoon. If you tinker with prompt chains on nights-and-weekends, have opinions on what the latest large language models are good at, build tools to solve your own problems, and love turning half-baked ideas into prototypes and demo code, you’ll fit right in.
What you’ll tackle
- Own a slice of the rebuild from discovery through delivery working directly with design, engineering, and data.
- Map messy business needs (pricing, menu curation, internal ops tools) into clear problem statements, events, and service boundaries.
- Rethink the processes from internal note-taking to packing deliveries. You'll keep your eyes open for opportunities and improvements for your team, project and org.
- Prototype AI-powered features (think “Why does this price show up?” explainers or chef-facing copilots) using Cursor, Claude, Windsurf, Codex, or whatever tool gets the job done.
- Pair-program or pair-create in the tools of your choice; contribute lightweight frontend or schema changes when it unblocks the team.
- Define success metrics, analytics, and run experiments / A-B tests.
- Present trade-offs to executives one hour and coach a junior developer the next—same clarity, different depth.
- Keep an eye on new tools and patterns; if a weekend hack cuts cycle time in half, champion it on Monday.
We hope you have
- 4+ years in product, design, or engineering (you’ve shipped real stuff and owned outcomes). You have strong product sense.
- Hands-on experience integrating LLMs or automation APIs into a product or internal tool.
- Comfort with system-level thinking—DDD, event storming, or just a knack for drawing boxes and arrows that make sense.
- Enough code literacy to tweak a React component, or write a decent SQL query.
- A bias for action and strong opinions, loosely held—you push hard, then pivot fast when the data says so.
- A relentless curiosity for new tech and software (you don’t know them all yet, but you want to). You look at AI as a partner.
- Clear, concise communication across audiences—C-suite, chefs, designers, and engineers.
- Start-up or scale-up experience. You are used to fast moving and changing environments.
How We Work
- Linear for issue tracking
- Slack for async & vibes
- Notion as our collective brain
- Figma for design & fig-jams
- Cursor/Windsurf/v0 for AI-assisted prototyping and dev speed-ups

Verify Employer Thoroughly
Research the company's identity thoroughly before applying. Check for a professional website with contacts, active social media, and LinkedIn profiles. Verify details across platforms and look for reviews on Glassdoor or Trustpilot to confirm legitimacy.
Never Pay to Get a Job
Legitimate employers never require payment for applications, training, background checks, or equipment. Always reject upfront payment requests or demands for bank details, even if they claim it's for purchasing necessary work gear on your behalf.
Safeguard Your Personal Information
Protect sensitive data like SSN, bank details, or ID copies. Share this only after accepting a formal, written job offer. Ensure it's submitted via a secure company system or portal, never through insecure channels like standard email attachments.
Scrutinize Communication & Interviews
Watch for communication red flags: poor grammar, generic emails (@gmail), vague details, or undue pressure. Be highly suspicious of interviews held only via text or chat apps; legitimate companies typically use video or phone calls.
Beware of Unrealistic Offers
If an offer's salary or benefits seem unrealistically high for the work involved, be cautious. Research standard pay for similar roles. Offers that appear 'too good to be true' are often scams designed to lure you into providing information or payment.
Insist on a Formal Contract
Always secure and review a formal, written job offer or employment contract before starting work or sharing final personal details. Ensure it clearly defines your role, compensation, key terms, and conditions to avoid misunderstandings or scams.
