Technical Skills:
- Deep Understanding of GCP Services: Needs to possess in-depth knowledge and hands-on experience with a wide range of GCP services across compute (Compute, Kubernetes Engine & Cloud Functions), storage (Cloud Storage, Persistent Disk, Filestore), networking (VPC, Load Balancing, Cloud DNS, Cloud CDN), databases (Cloud SQL, Cloud Spanner, Bigtable), data analytics (BigQuery, Dataflow, Dataproc), AI/ML (Vertex AI), security (Cloud IAM, Security Command Center), and more.
- Cloud Architecture Design: Ability to design and implement scalable, resilient, secure, and cost-effective cloud solutions on GCP, considering factors like high availability, disaster recovery, and performance optimization.
- Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Proficiency in using IaC tools like Terraform or Google Cloud Deployment Manager to automate infrastructure provisioning and management.
- Networking: Strong understanding of network principles, including VPCs, subnets, firewalls, routing, load balancing, and network security.
- Security: Knowledge of cloud security best practices, identity and access management (IAM), data encryption, compliance standards, and security monitoring.
- Monitoring and Logging: Experience with GCP monitoring tools (Cloud Monitoring, Cloud Logging) and potentially other monitoring solutions like Prometheus or Grafana.
- Cost Management and Optimization: Ability to design solutions that are cost-efficient and to optimize existing deployments for cost reduction.
- Data Management: Understanding of data storage options, database technologies, and data integration patterns in GCP.
Soft Skills:
- Strong Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to analyze complex technical and business requirements and design appropriate solutions.
- Excellent Communication and Presentation Skills: Ability to clearly articulate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences, present solutions, and document architectures.
- Collaboration and Teamwork: Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams, including developers, operations, security, and business stakeholders.
- Business Acumen: Understanding of business drivers and the ability to align technical solutions with business objectives.
- Adaptability and Continuous Learning: The cloud landscape evolves rapidly, so a GCP Architect must be willing to continuously learn and stay updated with new services and best practices.
- Years of Experience: At least 2-3+ years of hands-on experience specifically with Google Cloud Platform. Experience in architecting and implementing cloud solutions is crucial.
- Cloud Migration Experience: Experience with migrating on-premises workloads or workloads from other cloud providers to GCP is a plus.
