Job Description

Enveritas builds solutions to improve the measure of sustainability in agricultural supply chains and include smallholder farmers in responsibly sourced agricultural products, in particular coffee and cocoa. A key component of this requires the development and funding of interventions that demonstrate impact on the sustainability of production and the livelihoods of smallholder farmers.

We work across 26 coffee and cocoa growing countries around the world, with a remote-first environment and hubs in diverse locations such as Uganda and New York. We bring together tech and machine learning with rigorous field processes to collect and process data on supply chain sustainability and environmental impact. This is made possible by a dedicated and diverse team, with profiles coming from leading consultancies, tech startups, development organizations, commodity traders, and data science companies.

We are always on the look-out for outstanding individuals who share our passion for achieving the Enveritas mission and who can help us drive and grow our impact project portfolio. In particular, we are looking for a profile with approximately 5 – 10+ years professional experience, with some of those years spent in a leading strategy/business consulting firm (ideally Project Leader / Engagement Manager level). The candidate will be a doer that is also comfortable managing a small team as well as interfacing with senior stakeholders and clients. The candidate should also bring at least one additional experience from industry giving them either relevant content/technical expertise or functional experience (e.g. impact investing, growth/BD at a start-up or tech firm). In terms of content/technical expertise, we are particularly keen on profiles that have experience in agritech, agriscience, climate tech, carbon sequestration. The role reports to the Head of Impact. This position is remote with a home base that can be discussed. Some travel to coffee origins is expected.

More specifically, this person will:

  • Identify projects to fund for impact in the agricultural sector
  • Carry out impact & ROI evaluation and risk assessments on candidate interventions
  • Design impact programs from start to finish, including the implementation plan, negotiation with partners, pilot testing, coordination of public relations
  • Run, monitor & evaluate results, and scale
  • Interface with external partners and stakeholders in the private sector and government, as needed, to enable the smooth roll-out and growth of impact projects
  • Manage more junior members of the team
  • Visit projects and implementors on site as necessary, supporting the field teams (but this role can be primarily remote)

Requirements:

  • Min. 2-3 years of experience in strategy consulting or finance/PE, including some at the associate or EM level (alternative experiences in high intensity environments that combine design, finance and client management also considered, e.g. Tech, VC funded start-ups)
  • Evidence of more than 3 years of additional experience. Tech firms, VC funded start-ups or Impact investing particularly valuable.
  • University degree in science or engineering preferred
  • Excellent analytical skills, experience with quantitative data analysis and large datasets, familiarity (or better expertise) with the scientific approach
  • Proven client management skills and demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and succinctly
  • Ability to structure sophisticated problems
  • Ability to manage a multicultural team, remotely and/or in person to deliver on the ambitions of a project
  • Some travel to production areas, particularly in Africa, potentially Asia required

Compensation is competitive for the sustainability sector.

Safe Remote Job Search Tips

Verify Employer Thoroughly

Research the company's identity thoroughly before applying. Check for a professional website with contacts, active social media, and LinkedIn profiles. Verify details across platforms and look for reviews on Glassdoor or Trustpilot to confirm legitimacy.

Never Pay to Get a Job

Legitimate employers never require payment for applications, training, background checks, or equipment. Always reject upfront payment requests or demands for bank details, even if they claim it's for purchasing necessary work gear on your behalf.

Safeguard Your Personal Information

Protect sensitive data like SSN, bank details, or ID copies. Share this only after accepting a formal, written job offer. Ensure it's submitted via a secure company system or portal, never through insecure channels like standard email attachments.

Scrutinize Communication & Interviews

Watch for communication red flags: poor grammar, generic emails (@gmail), vague details, or undue pressure. Be highly suspicious of interviews held only via text or chat apps; legitimate companies typically use video or phone calls.

Beware of Unrealistic Offers

If an offer's salary or benefits seem unrealistically high for the work involved, be cautious. Research standard pay for similar roles. Offers that appear 'too good to be true' are often scams designed to lure you into providing information or payment.

Insist on a Formal Contract

Always secure and review a formal, written job offer or employment contract before starting work or sharing final personal details. Ensure it clearly defines your role, compensation, key terms, and conditions to avoid misunderstandings or scams.
