The Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Data Engineer to design, implement, and manage our organization’s data architecture. The ideal candidate will possess deep expertise in data modeling, database design, cloud data platforms, and data governance practices. This role requires a hands-on technical leader who thrives in a player-coach capacity—someone who can both architect solutions and actively contribute to their development.
As aLead Data Engineer, you will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure our data systems are scalable, secure, and aligned with strategic business goals. You will also be expected to collaborate with global teams, including offshore engineering resources, to drive consistent implementation standards and foster a culture of knowledge sharing and continuous improvement.
What You’ll Do
Architecture & Strategy
Design and lead the development of scalable, secure, and high-performance data solutions within the Azure ecosystem.
Define and enforce data engineering standards, best practices, and architectural patterns.
Evaluate and integrate emerging technologies to enhance the data platform’s capabilities.
Leadership & Collaboration
Provide technical leadership and mentorship to a team of data engineers.
Act as a subject matter expert for internal stakeholders and clients, addressing technical inquiries and providing strategic guidance.
Collaborate with data science, analytics, and business teams to align data architecture with business objectives.
Data Engineering & Infrastructure
Oversee the design, development, and optimization of data warehouses, data lakes, and ETL/ELT pipelines using Azure Synapse, Data Factory, and Microsoft Fabric.
Select and implement appropriate data storage solutions (SQL, NoSQL, data lakes, cloud warehouses).
Manage the development and maintenance of data models and schema designs to support efficient data storage and retrieval.
Optimize data processing workflows for performance, scalability, and reliability.
Governance & Quality
Implement and maintain robust data governance, security, and compliance frameworks.
Ensure data quality and integrity through effective validation, cleansing, and monitoring techniques.
What You’ll Bring
8+ years of experience in data engineering, including 3+ years in a technical leadership or architecture role.
Proven expertise in Azure Synapse Analytics, Azure Data Factory, Azure Data Lake, and Microsoft Fabric.
Strong background in data warehouse architecture, data modeling, and performance tuning.
Proficiency in SQL, Python, and/or Spark for data transformation and orchestration.
Experience with cloud-native architecture, DevOps practices, and CI/CD pipelines in Azure.
Excellent communication and leadership skills with the ability to influence technical direction and strategy.
