Job Summary
The Lead DevOps Engineer will drive Nextech’s DevOps initiatives, providing daily technical direction and mentorship while collaborating with the DevOps Manager and cross-functional teams to ensure scalable, secure, and reliable infrastructure. This role combines hands-on engineering with team leadership responsibilities, working closely with DevOps, Cloud, and Software Engineering teams to design, implement, and optimize infrastructure and automation strategies.

- Essential Functions:In addition to working in accordance with appropriate conduct and behavioral standards, specific responsibilities of this role include:
- Provide coaching and direction to a team of DevOps engineers, promoting a culture of ownership, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Act as the primary technical contact and mentor for DevOps best practices and automation strategies.
- Drive innovation and foster experimentation in CI/CD, automation, and system architecture.
- Demonstrate excellence in both written and verbal communication.
- Promote ongoing learning and keep current with new technologies and patterns.
- Architect and maintain scalable infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform.
- Develop and manage CI/CD pipelines using tools like Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, or Jenkins.
- Oversee configuration management solutions (e.g., Ansible, Puppet, Chef) to ensure consistent, secure environments.
- Work with Software Engineering to enhance monitoring, alerting, and observability using APM tools such as Datadog, Dynatrace, or New Relic.
- Partner with product and engineering stakeholders to translate business requirements into reliable infrastructure solutions.
- Collaborate closely with the DevOps Manager to ensure solutions align with overall operational and business goals.
- Represent DevOps in technical planning meetings, communicating priorities, risks, and system health status clearly.
- Provide technical coaching, constructive feedback, and help identify growth opportunities for DevOps engineers.
- Encourage knowledge sharing, standardization, and adoption of modern DevOps practices.
- Collaborate with the DevOps Manager to ensure the team is properly resourced for delivery.
- Carry out additional responsibilities assigned based on business need.
- 7+ years in software or infrastructure engineering roles.
- 5+ years of DevOps experience, providing technical direction to DevOps Engineers.
- Expertise in Azure or AWS environments. (Azure preferred)
- Demonstrated success implementing DevOps.
- Hands-on experience with IaC tools (e.g., Terraform), scripting languages (e.g., PowerShell, Python), and CI/CD (Azure DevOps preferred) platforms.
- Experience with Agile methodologies and version control systems.
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or related field.
- Ansible experience
- One or more Cloud-related certifications (e.g., AWS Certified DevOps Engineer, Azure DevOps Expert).
- Familiarity with HIPAA compliance and healthcare IT best practices.
