The Team

Upstart’s Home Lending Operations team is dedicated to delivering fast, high-quality service through efficient and scalable processes. We aim to create a seamless customer experience while driving operational excellence across all touchpoints. Our team supports critical moments in the loan lifecycle and plays a key role in continuous improvement, compliance, and customer satisfaction.

As the Loan Sales Delivery Manager at Upstart, you will lead our loan sales operations across core areas: sales preparation, execution, quality, and post-sale activities including any remediations and cures. You will develop and own end-to-end processes that ensure our loans are ready for market, meet investor and regulatory requirements, and are seamlessly transferred post-sale. You’ll drive team productivity, build scalable infrastructure, and act as a thought partner to cross-functional teams including Capital Markets, Legal, Servicing, and Compliance.

You’ll be both a hands-on leader and a strategic operator—analyzing pipeline health, managing critical stakeholder relationships, and developing frameworks that scale with business growth.

Position Location - This role is available in the following locations: Remote

Time Zone Requirements - This team operates on the East/West Coast time zones.

In-Office requirements. You will be required to travel once a quarter for business onsites.

Travel Requirements - As a digital first company, the majority of your work can be accomplished remotely. The majority of our employees can live and work anywhere in the U.S but are encouraged to to still spend high quality time in-person collaborating via regular onsites. The in-person sessions’ cadence varies depending on the team and role; most teams meet once or twice per quarter for 2-4 consecutive days at a time.

How you’ll make an impact:

  • Own and continuously improve the full loan sales operational lifecycle: prep, execution, post-sale follow-up, and exception handling.
  • Identify and resolve complex quality or compliance issues, using root cause analysis and structured problem solving.
  • Establish and maintain robust controls and metrics for team performance, execution accuracy, and investor readiness.
  • Design processes and tools that support cross-functional visibility into the sales pipeline and execution timelines.
  • Manage a team responsible for operational loan sale tasks, offering coaching, feedback, and performance development.
  • Collaborate closely with internal teams such as Capital Markets, Engineering, Servicing, Compliance, and Legal to deliver loan sales that meet investor requirements.
  • Proactively identify risks or operational bottlenecks and implement process enhancements before issues arise.
  • Represent Operations in key cross-functional forums and drive alignment around complex or high-risk initiatives.
  • Plan multiple quarters ahead to ensure scalable growth and mitigate downstream impacts of upstream changes.
  • Build a culture of ownership, accountability, and continuous improvement.

What we’re looking for:

  • Minimum qualifications:
    • 3+ years of experience in mortgage operations, post-close, loan delivery, or secondary market operations.
    • Working knowledge of mortgage documents (e.g., Note, Final CD, Title, Loan Application) and investor eligibility requirements.
    • High attention to detail and consistency; able to spot discrepancies and follow up to resolution.
    • Self-starter with strong organization skills and the ability to manage time-sensitive workflows with limited oversight.
    • Experience with LOS platforms and investor portals (e.g., Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, Redwood, or similar).
  • Preferred qualifications:
    • Familiarity with agency and non-agency loan sale requirements (FNMA, FHLMC, aggregators).
    • Prior experience with loan sale tracking, reporting tools, or audit responses.
    • Understanding of capital markets timelines and the downstream impact of post-close operations.
    • NMLS license is a plus.
    • Previous background in underwriting or post-close audit is helpful.

What you'll love:

  • Competitive Compensation (base + bonus & equity)
  • Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage with Health Savings Account contributions from Upstart
  • 401(k) with 100% company match up to $4,500 and immediate vesting and after-tax savings
  • Employee Stock Purchase Plan (ESPP)
  • Life and disability insurance
  • Generous holiday, vacation, sick and safety leave
  • Supportive parental, family care, and military leave programs
  • Annual wellness, technology & ergonomic reimbursement programs
  • Social activities including team events and onsites, all-company updates, employee resource groups (ERGs), and other interest groups such as book clubs, fitness, investing, and volunteering
  • Catered lunches + snacks & drinks when working in offices

Safe Remote Job Search Tips

Verify Employer Thoroughly

Research the company's identity thoroughly before applying. Check for a professional website with contacts, active social media, and LinkedIn profiles. Verify details across platforms and look for reviews on Glassdoor or Trustpilot to confirm legitimacy.

Never Pay to Get a Job

Legitimate employers never require payment for applications, training, background checks, or equipment. Always reject upfront payment requests or demands for bank details, even if they claim it's for purchasing necessary work gear on your behalf.

Safeguard Your Personal Information

Protect sensitive data like SSN, bank details, or ID copies. Share this only after accepting a formal, written job offer. Ensure it's submitted via a secure company system or portal, never through insecure channels like standard email attachments.

Scrutinize Communication & Interviews

Watch for communication red flags: poor grammar, generic emails (@gmail), vague details, or undue pressure. Be highly suspicious of interviews held only via text or chat apps; legitimate companies typically use video or phone calls.

Beware of Unrealistic Offers

If an offer's salary or benefits seem unrealistically high for the work involved, be cautious. Research standard pay for similar roles. Offers that appear 'too good to be true' are often scams designed to lure you into providing information or payment.

Insist on a Formal Contract

Always secure and review a formal, written job offer or employment contract before starting work or sharing final personal details. Ensure it clearly defines your role, compensation, key terms, and conditions to avoid misunderstandings or scams.
