Why Mozilla?

Mozilla Corporation is the non-profit-backed technology company that has shaped the internet for the better over the last 25 years. We make pioneering brands like Firefox, the privacy-minded web browser, and Pocket, a service for keeping up with the best content online. Now, with more than 225 million people around the world using our products each month, we’re shaping the next 25 years of technology and helping to reclaim an internet built for people, not companies. Our work focuses on diverse areas including AI, social media, security and more. And we’re doing this while never losing our focus on our core mission – to make the internet better for people.

The Mozilla Corporation is wholly owned by the non-profit 501(c) Mozilla Foundation. This means we aren’t beholden to any shareholders — only to our mission. Along with thousands of volunteer contributors and collaborators all over the world, Mozillians design, build and distribute open-source software that enables people to enjoy the internet on their terms.

About this team and role:

We’re looking for a data science leader to guide and grow a high-impact team focused on Mozilla’s expanding portfolio of monetized products and services. This role is central to shaping a monetization strategy that aligns with our core values - protecting user privacy, delivering meaningful value to users, and ensuring the long-term financial health of Mozilla.

What you’ll do:

  • Lead and scale a high-performing data science team, driving strategy and execution across monetized features and surfaces.
  • Balance business goals and user trust by defining a monetization framework that supports privacy and user-first principles.
  • Translate data into impact through deep analysis, clear insights, and the development of metrics, dashboards, and self-serve reporting tools that enable stakeholders to make informed decisions.
  • Drive measurement rigor by designing and evolving experimentation and evaluation frameworks for testing and optimizing monetization features.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Product, Engineering, and Advertising teams to define and deliver on our product and monetization roadmap.

What you’ll bring:

  • 6+ years of experience in data science with a strong focus on monetization. Experience in ad tech, programmatic advertising, search and recommendation systems is a strong plus.
  • 3+ years of experience leading and scaling data science teams.
  • Deep expertise in machine learning, statistical modeling, and applied data analytics. Proficiency in Python, as well as SQL.
  • Strong understanding of privacy-preserving technologies and how they can be applied within advertising or monetization contexts.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to distill complex data into clear, actionable insights for both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • A collaborative mindset and a track record of influencing cross-functional teams and senior leaders.
  • Commitment to our values:
    • Welcoming differences
    • Being relationship-minded
    • Practicing responsible participation
    • Having grit

What you’ll get:

  • Generous performance-based bonus plans to all eligible employees - we share in our success as one team
  • Rich medical, dental, and vision coverage
  • Generous retirement contributions with 100% immediate vesting (regardless of whether you contribute)
  • Quarterly all-company wellness days where everyone takes a pause together
  • Country specific holidays plus a day off for your birthday
  • One-time home office stipend
  • Annual professional development budget
  • Quarterly well-being stipend
  • Considerable paid parental leave
  • Employee referral bonus program
  • Other benefits (life/AD&D, disability, EAP, etc. - varies by country)

Safe Remote Job Search Tips

Verify Employer Thoroughly

Research the company's identity thoroughly before applying. Check for a professional website with contacts, active social media, and LinkedIn profiles. Verify details across platforms and look for reviews on Glassdoor or Trustpilot to confirm legitimacy.

Never Pay to Get a Job

Legitimate employers never require payment for applications, training, background checks, or equipment. Always reject upfront payment requests or demands for bank details, even if they claim it's for purchasing necessary work gear on your behalf.

Safeguard Your Personal Information

Protect sensitive data like SSN, bank details, or ID copies. Share this only after accepting a formal, written job offer. Ensure it's submitted via a secure company system or portal, never through insecure channels like standard email attachments.

Scrutinize Communication & Interviews

Watch for communication red flags: poor grammar, generic emails (@gmail), vague details, or undue pressure. Be highly suspicious of interviews held only via text or chat apps; legitimate companies typically use video or phone calls.

Beware of Unrealistic Offers

If an offer's salary or benefits seem unrealistically high for the work involved, be cautious. Research standard pay for similar roles. Offers that appear 'too good to be true' are often scams designed to lure you into providing information or payment.

Insist on a Formal Contract

Always secure and review a formal, written job offer or employment contract before starting work or sharing final personal details. Ensure it clearly defines your role, compensation, key terms, and conditions to avoid misunderstandings or scams.
