Position Summary
The Patient Service Representative - Billing works within our Clinical Operations team and serves as a link between patients, the practice, and the healthcare system. They are often the initial point of contact for patients at Midi, entrusted as brand ambassadors to deliver and maintain the highest level of service throughout each patient's journey.
The Patient Service Representative team at Midi ensures that patients receive necessary support during their care, facilitates new patient registration, guides patients through the healthcare system, and bridges any communication gaps. Specifically, the Patient Service Representative - Billing focuses on handling billing-related issues and cases. They assist patients with billing inquiries, insurance questions, and complaints, aiming to provide a superior customer service experience.
Responsibilities:
- Serving as the primary contact for patients, ensuring effective communication.
- Collaborating with clinical teams to verify insurance coverage and benefits before telehealth appointments.
- Assisting patients in understanding financial obligations and payment options.
- Utilizing Zendesk to promptly and professionally resolve patient billing inquiries.
- Participating in audits to detect billing discrepancies and trends affecting patient and cross-departmental billing.
- Contributing to cross-functional initiatives to improve patient experiences and optimize billing processes.
- Assisting patients with verifying information, scheduling appointments, and updating Electronic Health Records (EHR).
- Managing intake procedures, including healthcare and insurance forms, and collecting payments.
- Adhering to organizational and regulatory guidelines to safeguard patient privacy and safety; safeguarding patient Protected Health Information (PHI) to maintain privacy.
Shift Time: Monday through Friday, 2 Shift Times Available:
9AM - 5:30PM EST
9AM - 5:30PM PST
*Both shifts include a 30 minute unpaid lunch
Qualifications:
- 2-5 years providing a best-in-class patient experience
- 1-2 years of billing experience
- 2 years of Zendesk experience
- 2 years of Athena experience
- 2 years of Google Workplace experience (required)
- Prior remote work experience
- Strong and professional verbal and written communication skills
- Must have strong, reliable internet and a quiet, distraction-free workplace
What we offer:
- Compensation is $23-25 hr, non-exempt, 40hrs per week
