Job Description
The climate crisis is the defining challenge of our time—but it’s also the greatest opportunity for innovation, and a challenge we’re proud to take on. At Overstory, we’re harnessing cutting-edge technology to enable a resilient electrical grid that keeps communities thriving as our world changes.
The grid is the backbone of life as we know it. It powers hospitals, keeps food fresh, and ensures communities stay connected. But extreme weather, aging infrastructure, and growing wildfire risks are putting this critical system under pressure. All of this combined makes the electric utility industry the greatest opportunity for tackling climate change.
One of the leading causes of catastrophic wildfires and power outages? Trees and brush coming into contact with power lines.
That’s where we help. At Overstory, we use AI and advanced satellite imagery to pinpoint and prioritize vegetation risks before they materialize. By giving utilities critical analysis on those risks, we’re helping prevent outages, reduce wildfire risks, and accelerate the transition to a safer, more resilient grid.
Our team spans the Americas and Europe, and we work with utility partners across the Americas and beyond. We’re outdoor enthusiasts, musicians, artists, athletes, parents, and adventurers—15 nationalities strong and growing. What unites us is a passion for solving complex problems, a commitment to climate action, and the belief that technology should be a force for good.
Join us to help us build a more resilient world together.
The role
As a People Operations Manager, you’ll ensure that all people operations for our team in North America run smoothly - from onboarding to offboarding and everything in between. You’re the beating heart of the People team, approachable and responsive to any questions from our Overstory team in your geography. You’re able to smoothly navigate local complexities while making the overall experience feel like Overstory. You’ll work hands-on delivering excellent day-to-day operations, guide managers with people-related questions and drive improvements to make us ready to scale as we enter a new phase of growth.
You’ll be part of a small but mighty People team, working closely with the Head of People. Together, we nurture a culture where everyone can be their best selves. We like thinking out-of-the-box, keeping our way of working simple and effective and most importantly: human-centric.
If you love fast-paced environments, like to make things happen and want to set the standard for what great people operations looks like - this role might be just what you’re looking for.
What you’ll do

- Support managers and the wider Overstory team with questions on people policies or processes
- Draft offer letters and agreements
- Ensure our people operations are compliant with local labor laws
- Draft board and leadership reporting with people team updates, metrics, and visuals

- Ensure a smooth offboarding for team members that are moving on
- Handle benefits and leave administration for our North American team. A big part of that will be running the yearly health benefits enrollments in the US, and keeping the related administration tidy throughout the year.
- Run ad-hoc projects in collaboration with the Head of People
About you
- You have 5+ years of experience as an HR Generalist, HR Manager or similar role, involved in all aspects of HR

- You have exceptional verbal and written communication skills in English
- You know how to leverage AI to make everyone around you more efficient
- You’re passionate about our climate mission

Verify Employer Thoroughly
Research the company's identity thoroughly before applying. Check for a professional website with contacts, active social media, and LinkedIn profiles. Verify details across platforms and look for reviews on Glassdoor or Trustpilot to confirm legitimacy.
Never Pay to Get a Job
Legitimate employers never require payment for applications, training, background checks, or equipment. Always reject upfront payment requests or demands for bank details, even if they claim it's for purchasing necessary work gear on your behalf.
Safeguard Your Personal Information
Protect sensitive data like SSN, bank details, or ID copies. Share this only after accepting a formal, written job offer. Ensure it's submitted via a secure company system or portal, never through insecure channels like standard email attachments.
Scrutinize Communication & Interviews
Watch for communication red flags: poor grammar, generic emails (@gmail), vague details, or undue pressure. Be highly suspicious of interviews held only via text or chat apps; legitimate companies typically use video or phone calls.
Beware of Unrealistic Offers
If an offer's salary or benefits seem unrealistically high for the work involved, be cautious. Research standard pay for similar roles. Offers that appear 'too good to be true' are often scams designed to lure you into providing information or payment.
Insist on a Formal Contract
Always secure and review a formal, written job offer or employment contract before starting work or sharing final personal details. Ensure it clearly defines your role, compensation, key terms, and conditions to avoid misunderstandings or scams.
