The Online Systems team at Pinterest is dedicated to delivering reliable, high-performance, and maintainable online systems that support rapid product development on a global scale. To fulfill our mission, we seek engineers enthusiastic about working on large-scale distributed systems that handle hundreds of millions of requests per second.
What you’ll do:
- Guide and shape the technological strategies to ensure the sustainable development of Pinterest's online backend infrastructure.
- Champion engineering excellence and enhance the reputation of Pinterest's engineering brand.
- Inspire and encourage the team to consistently improve the reliability, operability, scalability, efficiency, and performance of Pinterest's serving stack.
- Spearhead projects aimed at scaling existing systems or developing new features to meet Pinterest's business requirements.
What we’re looking for:
- Proven experience in designing, building, and managing large-scale distributed systems that support high-throughput, low-latency applications.
- Strong proficiency in at least one system programming language, such as C++, Java, Go, or Rust.
- Comprehensive understanding of computer systems, including operating systems, threading, networking, and modern hardware architecture, from a software engineering perspective.
- Effective cross-functional leadership abilities.
- Good communication skills.
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, a related field or equivalent experience.
In-Office Requirement Statement:
- We let the type of work you do guide the collaboration style. That means we're not always working in an office, but we continue to gather for key moments of collaboration and connection.
- This role will need to be in the office for in-person collaboration 1 time a week and therefore needs to be in a commutable distance from one of the following offices Palo Alto, San Francisco, Seattle
