Principal Product Manager
Intelligent Mission Environment - Collaborative Workflow
Reports to: VP of Product and Program Management

We seek a visionary Principal Product Manager to work closely with our co-founders, engineering leaders and key customers to shape the future of our products and drive fast, precise execution and iteration to meet customer needs and accelerate success.
- Strategic Vision: Contribute to the strategic vision for our Intelligent Mission Environment in partnership with co-founders, key customers, and the product, design, and engineering teams. Collaborate closely with marketing and sales to ensure alignment and cohesive execution.
- Domain Expertise:Develop expertise in domains such as DoD, Mission Operations, critical infrastructure, JADC2, and Zero Trust architecture, while gaining new insights from meeting Mattermost prospects and customers. Understand market needs, competitive environment, and where Mattermost can add unique value. Train and develop internal staff members on customer domains around cyber and national security operations.
- Strategic Foresight: Deeply understand current and future market needs. Envision and build an adaptable platform that meets the needs of both legacy infrastructure and new cloud-based services and AI infrastructure for future national security investments.
- Revenue Growth: Develop and implement strategies for rapid revenue growth over time by connecting visionary product ideas with market demands.
- Collaboration: Work closely with co-founders, the executive team, sales, marketing, and a peer Principal Product Manager to deliver new value to defense, intelligence, security, and critical infrastructure organizations. Share segmented responsibilities across the core collaboration platform and verticalized use cases.
- Leadership: Lead engineering teams to implement and iterate on software systems rapidly, balancing speed and effectiveness with security and compliance requirements.
- Experience: 7-10 years of product management experience, with at least 5 years in leadership roles within defense, intelligence, or cyber operations communities.
- Expertise: Proven track record in DoD, Mission Operations, critical infrastructure, JADC2, Zero Trust architecture, cyber operations, and/or the intelligence community. Eligibility for US security clearance is required.
- Visionary Thinking: Ability to foresee market trends and translate them into actionable product strategies.
- Strategic Alignment: Strong ability to align product roadmaps with business goals, driving significant revenue growth.
- Leadership: Exceptional leadership skills with a collaborative mindset, capable of guiding cross-functional teams towards a unified vision.
- This role may require the candidate to obtain and maintain a U.S. security clearance in the future. As such, applicants must beU.S. citizens andeligible to obtain a U.S. government security clearance.
