This role requires a minimum of 3 days in the office in Dublin, Ireland and requires up to 25% travel.

In this role, you will:

  • Lead xAI’s European privacy and data protection functions, including operations subject to GDPR and the EU AI Act.
  • Negotiate and handle privacy and commercial agreements with customers, vendors, suppliers, and partners
  • Interact with privacy regulatory authorities
  • Partner closely with technical, product, procurement, and commercial teams to implement privacy-by-design and counsel on privacy, product, and commercial matters
  • Create processes for efficient and scalable privacy and commercial operations
  • Ability and desire to be a swiss army knife: pitch in for anything needed in the legal department, even if it’s unfamiliar or not in your lane
  • Drive privacy projects and rise to the level of responsibility of which you’re capable!

Basic qualifications:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) or equivalent degree from an accredited law school
  • License or qualification to practice law in Ireland (bonus for UK too)
  • 4+ years of privacy experience
  • 4+ years of product counseling and/or commercial transactional experience
  • CIPP/E required, CIPP/US is useful to have
  • 6+ years of combined legal experience at an innovative technology company and a top law firm
  • In-house experience at a Business-to-Consumer or Business-to-Business company

  • Experience working in a startup or fast-growth environment
  • A proactive approach to law, focusing not just on privacy compliance but on enabling business growth through realistic product and commercial legal strategies
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with sound judgment in ambiguous environments
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent negotiation and communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to work independently and make decisions in high-pressure situations, and at the same time being a highly collaborative teammate
  • Experience overseeing privacy assessments, operations, and compliance
  • Ability to communicate well with regulatory authorities and teammates
  • Experience negotiating Data Processing Addendums and other privacy and commercial agreements
  • Proficient in understanding complex legal concepts and translating them into actionable business advice
  • Tech-savvy with an understanding or keen interest in emerging technologies like AI
  • Full professional fluency in English; proficiency in additional European languages is a plus

Annual Salary Range

  • €90.000 — €140.000
