Job Description
The climate crisis is the defining challenge of our time—but it’s also the greatest opportunity for innovation, and a challenge we’re proud to take on. At Overstory, we’re harnessing cutting-edge technology to enable a resilient electrical grid that keeps communities thriving as our world changes.
The grid is the backbone of life as we know it. It powers hospitals, keeps food fresh, and ensures communities stay connected. But extreme weather, aging infrastructure, and growing wildfire risks are putting this critical system under pressure. All of this combined makes the electric utility industry the greatest opportunity for tackling climate change.
One of the leading causes of catastrophic wildfires and power outages? Trees and brush coming into contact with power lines.
That’s where we help. At Overstory, we use AI and advanced satellite imagery to pinpoint and prioritize vegetation risks before they materialize. By giving utilities critical analysis on those risks, we’re helping prevent outages, reduce wildfire risks, and accelerate the transition to a safer, more resilient grid.
Our team spans the Americas and Europe, and we work with utility partners across the Americas and beyond. We’re outdoor enthusiasts, musicians, artists, athletes, parents, and adventurers—15 nationalities strong and growing. What unites us is a passion for solving complex problems, a commitment to climate action, and the belief that technology should be a force for good.
Join us to help us build a more resilient world together.
About the role
As a Product Manager on the Machine Learning team at Overstory, you’ll lead the development and improvement of the core models that power our vegetation intelligence. This team owns and operates the full ML lifecycle for all vegetation models, from training and evaluation to inference and monitoring in production. The team and technology is scaling, so you will have a strong influence on the long-term development of core MLOps capabilities.
You’ll work closely with ML engineers, data scientists, and software engineers to drive improvements in model performance, reliability, and speed. Your job is to make sure our models are accurate, scalable, and deliver meaningful insights to our customers in a timely way. This includes defining model success criteria, prioritizing model enhancements, and ensuring tight integration with upstream data and downstream product teams.
This is a highly cross-functional and technically complex role. You’ll translate customer and product needs into ML priorities, help teams evaluate trade-offs in model development, and guide decisions that balance accuracy, speed, cost, and complexity. It’s a mix of technical product strategy, hands-on execution, and tight collaboration with engineering and research.
About you / What a successful candidate looks like
You’re comfortable operating in deeply technical domains and enjoy working with ML practitioners to build products that have real-world impact. You can balance long-term research efforts with short-term delivery needs, and you’re pragmatic in how you prioritize. You’ve worked on ML-heavy products before and know what it takes to deliver high-quality results to production.
You’re a systems thinker who understands how models fit into the broader product and data ecosystem. You have experience developing product strategy focused on data, ML quality, and business impact. You communicate clearly, bring cross-functional stakeholders along, and are motivated by the opportunity to contribute to real climate solutions.
Requirements
- 5+ years of product management experience owning key product metrics/indicators tied to company performance
- Experience working directly with machine learning teams and owning ML-powered features or platforms
- Strong technical fluency, able to engage in depth with ML engineers, researchers, and data scientists
- Familiarity with the ML lifecycle, from model training and evaluation to deployment and monitoring
- Understanding of how to balance data quality, speed, and scalability
- Proven ability to align engineering, science, and product stakeholders around shared goals
- Excellent communication skills, especially in technical environments
- Passion for climate impact and mission-driven work
- You are based in Europe (see countries we hire from below) or on the East Coast of the US
Nice-to-haves
- Experience working with imagery, geospatial data, and/or MLOps
- Background in technical product roles involving automation or orchestration
- Experience with and prior success working with both platform teams and customer-facing teams
If you don’t meet all of the above yet feel you have lots to offer, please apply anyway.
What you get
- To be part of truly mission-driven work that reduces wildfires, protects earth’s natural resources and helps solve our climate crisis.
- A flexible working environment with a lot of autonomy. We build our work days around our lives, not the other way around.
- Other benefits like a remote working budget, an educational budget and time to develop new skills.
- To be surrounded by an excellent, vibrant, smart team who have each other's back and believe in a culture of openness, tolerance and respect.
- Equity and a competitive salary.

Verify Employer Thoroughly
Research the company's identity thoroughly before applying. Check for a professional website with contacts, active social media, and LinkedIn profiles. Verify details across platforms and look for reviews on Glassdoor or Trustpilot to confirm legitimacy.
Never Pay to Get a Job
Legitimate employers never require payment for applications, training, background checks, or equipment. Always reject upfront payment requests or demands for bank details, even if they claim it's for purchasing necessary work gear on your behalf.
Safeguard Your Personal Information
Protect sensitive data like SSN, bank details, or ID copies. Share this only after accepting a formal, written job offer. Ensure it's submitted via a secure company system or portal, never through insecure channels like standard email attachments.
Scrutinize Communication & Interviews
Watch for communication red flags: poor grammar, generic emails (@gmail), vague details, or undue pressure. Be highly suspicious of interviews held only via text or chat apps; legitimate companies typically use video or phone calls.
Beware of Unrealistic Offers
If an offer's salary or benefits seem unrealistically high for the work involved, be cautious. Research standard pay for similar roles. Offers that appear 'too good to be true' are often scams designed to lure you into providing information or payment.
Insist on a Formal Contract
Always secure and review a formal, written job offer or employment contract before starting work or sharing final personal details. Ensure it clearly defines your role, compensation, key terms, and conditions to avoid misunderstandings or scams.
