Job Summary:
The Accounting Analyst – Revenue Recognition contributes to accurate and timely financial reporting by performing core revenue accounting activities. This role focuses on analyzing revenue streams, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, and providing financial insights to support strategic decision-making.
All activities must be in compliance with Equal Employment Opportunity laws, HIPAA, ERISA and other regulations, as appropriate.
- Prepare monthly accruals/schedules and entries for a timely and accurate close process.
- Identify trends and necessary changes in revenue, accruals and entries.
- Review customer contracts to ensure billing and revenue accounting is in accordance with GAAP and company policy.
- Perform detailed reviews of revenue and billing as part of the normal monthly close.
- Identify root cause of billing and revenue errors.
- Prepare journal entries to support monthly close activities.
- Learn and gain understanding of NetSuite revenue recognition principles, ensuring compliance with ASC606.
- Create detailed revenue schedules as needed for management and reporting purposes.
- Challenge the “status Quo” and lead process improvements to streamline revenue processes and shorten close timelines.
- Support integration of new revenue streams into our existing processes and NetSuite.
- Partner with internal teams and business partners to define, establish, and implement accounting processes and procedures.
- Carry out additional responsibilities as assigned based on business need.
- 2-4 years’ experience in accounting and finance
- Knowledge of GAAP and ability to apply ASC 606
- Possess exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and Excel skills
- Change management skills
- Time management skills
- High attention to detail with excellent organization skills
- Team player with a positive attitude who is excited to build from the ground up
- 2 + years of revenue recognition experience in a software or technology company with complex and recurring revenue streams
- Experience working with NetSuite and Salesforce and Excel
- Bachelor's degree in finance/accounting
- Long distance or air travel as needed
- Primarily a remote working environment
- Activities require a significant amount of work in front of a computer monitor.
