Job Summary:

The Revenue Cycle Analyst, Prior Authorization is responsible for analyzing operational data metrics and researching payer trends/policies to assist with strategy and process improvement related to Prior Authorization functions. The ideal candidate will have strong data analysis skills, experience with prior authorization and/or revenue cycle operations, and expertise in payer policies.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Serves as a source of knowledge for the designated revenue cycle function .
  • Performs analysis, identifies trends, presents opportunity areas, and prioritizes initiatives for performance improvement for the designated revenue cycle function.
  • Establishes an ongoing working relationship with other departments impacting revenue cycle performance.
  • Conducts complex data analysis and data interpretation
  • Tracks outcomes of prior authorization submission, resolution, and appeals, to ensure goals are met.
  • Participates in weekly meetings to review key metrics, workflows, trends, and performance improvement opportunities.
  • By continually reviewing and monitoring billing and coding changes, researches, evaluates, and interprets guidance from a variety of sources to determine departmental strategy.
  • Coordinates with Management to ensure thorough understanding of trends/issues affecting prior authorization and revenue cycle performance.
  • Supports goals and metrics to link department and revenue cycle initiatives with the organization's strategy.
  • Assists with development and monitors successful completion of implementation and project plans.
  • Acts as an educator on performance improvement requirements in operations and methodologies to related teams and departments.
  • Continues to seek new and creative technologies that help identify and guide improvement opportunities that align with overall company success.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors Degree in business or healthcare related field of study, or equivalent years of professional experience.
  • At least 2-3 years of experience in medical billing and Insurance collections.
  • Extensive knowledge in revenue cycle with an emphasis in prior authorization

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong communication (verbal and written), organizational, problem solving and team player skills.
  • Advanced skills with data analysis tools such as Excel or PowerBI.
  • Ability to navigate across multiple customer demands and balance competing priorities successfully.
  • Ability to analyze, identify and articulate identified trends and report trends succinctly in a clear and concise manner.
  • Ability to solve problems using critical thinking skills.
  • Maintains confidentiality of sensitive information.
  • Analytical skills required.
  • Advanced proficiency with quantitative software programs (Microsoft Excel, Google Sheets).
  • Motivated, shows initiative, and ability to work in fast paced environment.
  • Drive for Results (Service, Quality, and Continuous Improvement).
  • Commitment to the successful achievement of team and organizational goals.

The pay range is listed and actual compensation packages are based on a wide array of factors unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, years & depth of experience, certifications and specific office location. This may differ in other locations due to cost of labor considerations.
