About the role
We're looking for a Senior Accountant to join our fast-growing Property Technology (PropTech) SaaS company as our second accounting hire. This is a unique opportunity to step into a high-impact role at a pivotal moment in our growth. You’ll work closely with the Controller to build out scalable financial systems, support complex revenue recognition, and ensure our reporting is investor- and audit-ready.
In this role, you will:
Own core accounting operations, including GL maintenance, journal entries, reconciliations, and monthly close processes
Navigate and apply SaaS revenue recognition (ASC 606) to ensure accurate financial reporting
Collaborate cross-functionally with Sales, SalesOps, and Customer Success to support billing, contract review, and deferred revenue tracking
Assist in the implementation and optimization of financial systems (NetSuite, SaaSOptics, Stripe, etc.) to support scale
Prepare internal and external financial reports for leadership, investors, and auditors
Support tax, audit, and compliance processes in a growing, multi-entity environmentHelp establish and document accounting policies and procedures, especially as we expand across markets and product lines
Contribute to shaping a scalable and high-performing finance function as we grow
Oversee an outsource service provider.
We're looking for someone with:
4–6 years of progressive accounting experience, ideally with a mix of public accounting and in-house roles
Strong knowledge of and SaaS-specific accounting, including revenue recognition and cost capitalization.
Experience with accounting systems (e.g., NetSuite, Intacct, or similar) and a love for process optimization
Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Strong communication skills—you know how to explain accounting to non-accountants
Comfortable operating independently in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment
Bonus points if you have
CPA or working toward one
Prior experience in the start-up, real estate or PropTech space
Mainstay’s compensation varies by U.S. geographic market to align with local labor costs. For most locations, the pay range for this position is $97,920- $129,600, while the base salary pay range for roles based in the SF Bay Area, Seattle, and New York City Metro area is $122,000 - $144,000. Pay is based on location, skills, and experience, and your recruiter will confirm the specific range for your job location.Please note that remote roles are available in all U.S. states except Hawaii, Alaska, Montana, and U.S. Territories.
