About the Team

The Risk & Insurance team at DoorDash is responsible for all things corporate insurance at the company. We are a rapidly growing and exciting function that helps DoorDash manage risk and safety with a close lens on the company's bottom line. We are looking for forward thinkers that are excited to help build out this team and match our ambitious cross functional partners at DoorDash.

About the Role

We are looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Senior Actuarial Analyst who will be a member of DoorDash’s Corporate Risk & Insurance function within the Finance & Strategy team. In this role, you will play a key part in supporting our actuarial core function and advancing our analytical capabilities. You’ll help drive data-informed insights that guide actuarial decisions, contribute to the evaluation of operational trends. This is a high-impact role with opportunities to collaborate across functions and influence key areas of our risk strategy.

You will report to the Senior Manager, Actuary.

  • Contribute to the development of streamlined tools and perform robust quantitative analyses to support reserving accuracy, optimize insurance program structure, and carrier negotiation
  • Assist in building and maintaining tools and dashboards that drive in-depth loss analysis, actuarial indication, and trend monitoring
  • Work alongside senior actuaries to refine monthly performance reporting and support automation of recurring workflows
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams—including Claims, Finance, and Legal—to incorporate operational insights into actuarial workstreams and deliver high-quality outputs on schedule
  • Gather and reconcile data from various internal systems and external sources to support actuarial analyses
  • Take ownership of assigned projects, delivering thoughtful, well-documented insights that help inform business and actuarial decision-making

  • Prior experience working with or for a gig or sharing economy company is a plus
  • 2-5 years of experience in a quantitative or analytics role within the insurance industry
  • An understanding of statistical analysis (e.g. hypothesis testing, experimentation, regression) and familiarity with statistical packages
  • Experience managing relationships with partners, and working with all levels of an organization
  • Experience in reserving and pricing
  • Strong Excel (or Google Sheets), SQL, and experience with ETL and and Python (or R) is preferred
  • Advanced visualization skills using Tableau, and ability to tell a compelling story with data
  • Completed at least 5 actuarial exams
  • Experience working with commercial auto insurance in a reserving and/or pricing capacity a plus

Compensation

The successful candidate’s starting pay will fall within the pay range listed below and is determined based on job-related factors including, but not limited to, skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions. Base salary is localized according to an employee’s work location. Ranges are market-dependent and may be modified in the future.

In addition to base salary, the compensation for this role includes opportunities for equity grants. Talk to your recruiter for more information.

See below for paid time off details:

  • For salaried roles: flexible paid time off/vacation, plus 80 hours of paid sick time per year.
  • For hourly roles: vacation accrued at about 1 hour for every 25.97 hours worked (e.g. about 6.7 hours/month if working 40 hours/week; about 3.4 hours/month if working 20 hours/week), and paid sick time accrued at 1 hour for every 30 hours worked (e.g. about 5.8 hours/month if working 40 hours/week; about 2.9 hours/month if working 20 hours/week).
The national base pay range for this position within the United States, including Illinois and Colorado.
