About the Role
Do you enjoy working closely with product managers, front-end engineers, and mobile developers to bring ideas to life? We’re looking for a Senior Backend Engineer who thrives in a collaborative environment and is passionate about building backend systems that power user-facing features. In this role, you’ll work on designing and implementing backend services that directly support our AI-driven products, ensuring seamless integration with front-end and mobile platforms. Your work will help shape the user experience for millions of people worldwide.
This is a remote position open to candidates based in the United States. We also have co-working spaces in the San Francisco Bay Area and New York.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with Cross-Functional Teams: Work closely with product managers, front-end engineers, and mobile developers to design and implement backend services that meet product requirements.
- Develop User-Focused Features: Build and maintain backend systems that power user-facing features, ensuring a seamless experience across platforms.
- Support Front-End Integration: Ensure smooth communication between backend services and front-end/mobile applications.
- Debug and Optimize Systems: Debug live production issues, write tests to prevent future issues, and optimize backend performance for user-facing services.
- Iterate on Product Features: Rapidly prototype and refine backend systems based on user feedback and product requirements.
- Contribute to Team Culture: Foster a collaborative and supportive team environment, emphasizing strong coding practices and thorough code reviews.
Qualifications
- Backend Development Expertise: Proven experience building and deploying REST/RPC services that integrate seamlessly with front-end and mobile platforms.
- Collaboration Skills: Strong ability to work with product managers, designers, and engineers to deliver user-focused solutions.
- Testing and Debugging: Proficient in writing unit and integration tests, with a focus on maintaining high-quality code.
- Database Knowledge: Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases, ensuring performant and scalable query patterns.
- Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to debug and resolve live production issues quickly and effectively.
- Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
Our salary bands are structured based on a combination of geographic tiers and internal leveling. Compensation is determined by multiple factors assessed during the interview process, with the final offer reflecting these considerations.
