About the Opportunity
The Continuous Engineering team is dedicated to empowering the Salsify Support organization to operate with greater productivity and efficiency while delivering exceptional service to our customers, partners, and internal teams. Our mission is to implement impactful solutions that enhance both the team's performance and the overall customer experience.
As a Senior Continuous Engineer on the Global Salsify Support team, your efforts will span critical areas across our SupplierXM, ProductXM, and Custom Readiness Report groups where your contributions will directly influence the team's success.
This is a player/coach role, where you’ll collaborate closely with Support leadership, subject matter experts, and cross-functional teams - especially Engineering and Product - to build delightful solutions, while mentoring and developing team members to create the next generation of Continuous Engineers.
How you’ll make an impact
The Continuous Engineering team exists to increase the supportability of the application and introduce more opportunities for customers to self-resolve their issues.
As a Senior Continuous Engineer, you will:
- Promote and enforce best engineering practices
- Lead standups, sprint reviews, and planning meetings to ensure full team engagement
- Partner with Support management and our Support operations team for short and long-term release planning, and to keep the backlog healthy and prepared for execution.
- Assist in the creation of the team KPIs as well as monitor and report on results
- Collaborate with various Product Management and Engineering teams to design delightful solutions to complex problems across many feature areas
- Take ownership of a menagerie of existing and to-be-developed services, scripts, and Ruby gems
- Craft great software and ensure quality through code reviews, unit tests, and demos
- Solicit feedback from in-house “customers” to iterate and refine the tools they use
- Communicate clearly through documentation at various stages and for various audiences, including: architecture design records, feature proposals, tutorials, and technical documentation.
You’ll enjoy this role if you have:
- 3+ years of software development experience
- A genuine curiosity about software development and desire to mentor others - you will have many opportunities to teach and to learn
- Experience with Agile methodologies
- A track record of excellence, able to compromise judiciously between perfection and completeness where necessary
- A sense of adventure – we interoperate with many 3rd-party services with widely varying API design
- A good attitude, a collaborative spirit, and a customer service mentality
- Fluency in English
- Experience with microservices architecture is a plus
