About the Role

We’re looking for a Head of Financial Communications to support the development and execution of high-impact communications across corporate, financial, and internal channels. Reporting to the Director of Corporate Communications, this role is crucial in shaping and protecting our corporate brand and financial narrative, ensuring consistent and compelling messaging across all key stakeholders, including media, employees, investors, shareholders, and partners.

Key Responsibilities

Corporate & External Communications

  • Support and execute the company’s corporate PR strategy, including executive visibility for CEO and CFO, issues and reputation communications, and media and investor engagement.
  • Draft and own press releases, media statements, executive quotes, investor and shareholder messaging, and other external materials.
  • Serve as a strategic liaison and manage day-to-day coordination with PR agencies.
  • Support proactive and reactive media strategies to protect and elevate Motive’s reputation.

Financial Communications

  • Partner closely with Finance, Investor Relations, and Legal teams to support major financial announcements and corporate milestones.
  • Draft and refine internal and external financial materials, shareholder messaging, FAQs, and internal briefing docs.
  • Ensure financial messaging is accurate, consistent, and aligned with broader corporate communications.

Reputation Management

  • Monitor and assess issues that may impact corporate reputation, providing real-time counsel and communication plans.
  • Develop and maintain messaging frameworks and holding statements for high-risk or sensitive scenarios.
  • Lead cross-functional alignment for rapid response communications when needed, ensuring consistency and control across channels.
  • Establish playbooks and protocols for risk mitigation and incident response preparedness.

Internal Communications

  • Develop and manage internal communications plans that keep employees informed, inspired, and aligned on corporate and financial news and updates.
  • Draft executive communications, manage content for All-Hands meetings, and lead internal message development around key corporate and financial initiatives.

Strategic Counsel & Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Advise internal and external stakeholders on communication strategy and positioning.
  • Coordinate messaging and plans across teams, including Finance, Investor Relations, Legal, executive team, and more.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to lead and oversee issues and reputation management plans and support.

Qualifications

  • 10–12+ years of experience in corporate communications and public relations with a specific focus on corporate, financial communications and issues and reputation management.
  • Experience leading or heavily contributing to strategic communications at a high-growth company or within an agency. In-house experience preferred but not required based on agency focus and experience.
  • Strong internal communications experience, particularly around large corporate and financial moments, change management, crisis communications, and fast growth.
  • Understanding of financial communications and reporting cycles. IPO experience is a nice-to-have but not a must-have.
  • Experience with leading or contributing to crisis planning and communications.
  • Exceptional writing and editing skills with an ability to adapt tone across executive and employee audiences.
  • Track record of building trusted relationships with cross-functional teams, c-level leaders, agencies, and tier 1 media.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or a related field. Advanced degree is a plus.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, regulated, or high-visibility industry. B2B experience required.
  • Strong relationships with Executives, Finance, Investor Relations, and Legal will be crucial to ensure alignment, compliance, and impact across all communications.

Safe Remote Job Search Tips

Verify Employer Thoroughly

Research the company's identity thoroughly before applying. Check for a professional website with contacts, active social media, and LinkedIn profiles. Verify details across platforms and look for reviews on Glassdoor or Trustpilot to confirm legitimacy.

Never Pay to Get a Job

Legitimate employers never require payment for applications, training, background checks, or equipment. Always reject upfront payment requests or demands for bank details, even if they claim it's for purchasing necessary work gear on your behalf.

Safeguard Your Personal Information

Protect sensitive data like SSN, bank details, or ID copies. Share this only after accepting a formal, written job offer. Ensure it's submitted via a secure company system or portal, never through insecure channels like standard email attachments.

Scrutinize Communication & Interviews

Watch for communication red flags: poor grammar, generic emails (@gmail), vague details, or undue pressure. Be highly suspicious of interviews held only via text or chat apps; legitimate companies typically use video or phone calls.

Beware of Unrealistic Offers

If an offer's salary or benefits seem unrealistically high for the work involved, be cautious. Research standard pay for similar roles. Offers that appear 'too good to be true' are often scams designed to lure you into providing information or payment.

Insist on a Formal Contract

Always secure and review a formal, written job offer or employment contract before starting work or sharing final personal details. Ensure it clearly defines your role, compensation, key terms, and conditions to avoid misunderstandings or scams.
