About the Role

DoorDash is hiring a Senior Counsel to be the lead product and regulatory attorney for the Labs program at DoorDash (including product, engineering, and operations). Labs is DoorDash’s robotics and automation arm that is focused on identifying and integrating autonomous solutions that enhance the customer experience, including robot delivery and drone delivery. This role reports into the Senior Legal Director for Marketplace Products and Regulatory.

You’re excited about this opportunity because you will…
  • Provide Labs product, engineering, and operations teams with pragmatic day-to-day and strategic advice to minimize legal risks while advancing business goals and initiatives for a fast-moving startup program within the larger DoorDash organization.
  • Serve as the lead product and regulatory attorney for the Labs team, advising on federal, state, and local laws and regulations relating to drone delivery, robot delivery, and other automation and hardware technologies.
  • Oversee commercial deals that are critical inputs to operations and product development.
  • Serve as liaison between the Labs team and relevant legal team experts (such as our team’s experts in privacy and data security, IP, employment, and real estate counseling).
  • Synthesize input from outside counsel, your own research, and feedback from internal stakeholders to provide practical guidance applicable to the team.
We’re excited about you because…
  • You have 8+ years of practicing law at a top-tier firm, in-house, and/or in government. You have a J.D. and are authorized to practice law in the U.S. state where you are located.
  • You love technology and like to discuss the technical details, and you have prior experience with hardware products and automated technology.
  • You are familiar with launching products and advising on the legal and regulatory aspects of product development in the technology sector.
  • You are comfortable interacting with federal, state, and local regulators.
  • You are able to communicate clearly and effectively with senior business leaders regarding the top-level issues, and you also enjoy rolling up your sleeves to find the answers to the team’s questions, put out fires, and build and implement the legal strategy.
  • You have a philosophy that no task is too big or small. You embrace opportunities for learning and growth.
  • You are able to work autonomously while exercising sound judgment in a fast-paced environment. You have a proven ability to balance legal risk and business objectives.
  • You have a positive attitude and high EQ.
  • You embrace the DoorDash values of “bias for action.” You can prioritize competing responsibilities and think strategically about organization and process.

Compensation

The successful candidate's starting pay will fall within the pay range listed below and is determined based on job-related factors including, but not limited to, skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions. Base salary is localized according to an employee’s work location. Ranges are market-dependent and may be modified in the future.

In addition to base salary, the compensation for this role includes opportunities for equity grants. Talk to your recruiter for more information.

The base pay for this position ranges from our lowest geographical market up to our highest geographical market within the United States.
