SUMMARY

As a Senior Data Governance Analyst at Wiz, you will play a critical role in building, maintaining, and evolving the company’s data governance framework to support security, compliance, and business intelligence initiatives.

To succeed in this role, you should bring a combination of technical, regulatory, and collaborative skills with a strong understanding of data governance in the context of a high-growth cybersecurity SaaS company.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

  • Develop and maintain data governance policies, standards, and processes to ensure consistent data quality, privacy, and protection across the organization.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams—including Security, Engineering, Product, Legal, and Security Trust—to define data ownership, steward responsibilities, and data lifecycle rules.
  • Support data classification and cataloging efforts using tools like data discovery platforms and metadata management solutions.
  • Ensure regulatory compliance (e.g., GDPR, CCPA, HIPAA, etc.) by aligning internal data handling practices with relevant data protection requirements.
  • Help implement and manage data governance tools and maintain documentation for data lineage, dictionaries, and glossaries.
  • Monitor and report on data quality and compliance metrics, surfacing insights to stakeholders and recommending remediation steps.
  • Participate in audits and risk assessments, providing evidence and insights into data governance practices and controls.
  • Champion data literacy initiatives, educating teams about data policies, best practices, and responsible data use across the organization.

WHAT YOU’LL BRING

  • 5+ years of experience in data governance, data quality, compliance, or related fields—preferably in a tech or cybersecurity environment.
  • Familiarity with data privacy laws (such as GDPR, CCPA) and how they apply to cloud-based and SaaS platforms.
  • Understanding of cloud environments (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) and how data governance applies to modern infrastructure and distributed systems.
  • Experience with data governance and cataloging tools, such as Collibra, Alation, BigID, OneTrust, or similar platforms.
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple data domains and ensure consistent governance enforcement.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills, capable of translating technical concepts into business-friendly language for various stakeholders.
  • Attention to detail and a proactive mindset, with a bias toward continuous improvement and risk reduction.
  • A degree in Information Systems, Data Management, Cybersecurity, or a related field is preferred but not required with equivalent experience.

Safe Remote Job Search Tips

Verify Employer Thoroughly

Research the company's identity thoroughly before applying. Check for a professional website with contacts, active social media, and LinkedIn profiles. Verify details across platforms and look for reviews on Glassdoor or Trustpilot to confirm legitimacy.

Never Pay to Get a Job

Legitimate employers never require payment for applications, training, background checks, or equipment. Always reject upfront payment requests or demands for bank details, even if they claim it's for purchasing necessary work gear on your behalf.

Safeguard Your Personal Information

Protect sensitive data like SSN, bank details, or ID copies. Share this only after accepting a formal, written job offer. Ensure it's submitted via a secure company system or portal, never through insecure channels like standard email attachments.

Scrutinize Communication & Interviews

Watch for communication red flags: poor grammar, generic emails (@gmail), vague details, or undue pressure. Be highly suspicious of interviews held only via text or chat apps; legitimate companies typically use video or phone calls.

Beware of Unrealistic Offers

If an offer's salary or benefits seem unrealistically high for the work involved, be cautious. Research standard pay for similar roles. Offers that appear 'too good to be true' are often scams designed to lure you into providing information or payment.

Insist on a Formal Contract

Always secure and review a formal, written job offer or employment contract before starting work or sharing final personal details. Ensure it clearly defines your role, compensation, key terms, and conditions to avoid misunderstandings or scams.
