We recently made it easier than ever for developers to build and distribute the next great game on Discord. We’re looking for a Senior Developer Advocate to help support, educate, and inspire our growing game developer community. You will build meaningful relationships with our community by engaging with their questions and ideas, by speaking at events and workshops, and by communicating their feedback to the rest of the team.
What You'll Be Doing
- Support platform developers by writing documentation, crafting best practices, and developing code samples or projects
- Be the voice that drives us to constantly improve the experience for game developers on Discord's developer platform
- Collaborate with our Engineering, Product, Marketing, and other cross-functional teams to highlight unique apps and use-cases, improve our developer experiences and grow the app ecosystem
- Host community events, lead technical workshops, deliver talks, and find delightful, unique ways to bring new game developers into the Discord developer ecosystem
- Be an expert resource for our developer community by continuously learning about our platform's capabilities and design patterns
- Work with the other stakeholders on the developer-facing teams to define how our team can best work with our developer community, including using insights you gather to directly influence our product roadmap
What you should have
- 5+ years of experience in developer advocacy, engineering, or other relevant technical experience
- Proven ability to discuss, explain, and write about complex technical subjects in simple, succinct language
- Experience writing a blog, creating YouTube videos, or other content
- Confidence presenting to different types of audiences, large and small, virtual and in-person
- A passion for delivering technical documentation that inspires other builders
- A strong understanding of API design principles and development best practices
- Proven ability to collect, analyze, and discuss data to set and track performance against goals
- Experience working within cross-functional teams
- Practical experience building games, or tools to support game developers (either professionally or as a hobby)
- Experience with at least one popular gaming platform like Unity, Unreal Engine, Godot
Bonus Points
- Experience with web gaming technology, like Unity, Phaser, itch.io, etc
- Experience with the web platform, including TypeScript and React
- Experience with Discord’s APIs

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $196,000 to $220,500 + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role and level. Within the range, individual pay is determined by additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Please note that the compensation details listed in US role postings reflect the base salary only, and do not include equity, or benefits.
