About the Role
dbt Labs is looking for a dynamic and experienced Senior Director of Solutions Architecture to lead our Solutions Architecture team for the United States. This leadership role will involve growing and leading a team of Solutions Architect leaders, to drive revenue growth and customer success. The Senior Director of Solutions Architecture will play a crucial role in building and maintaining strong customer relationships, ensuring technical excellence, and driving the success of our sales efforts, and will partner closely with our sales leaders and broader Americas revenue team.
What You'll Do
As the leader of our Solutions Architecture function in North America, you will guide a team of Solutions Architect Managers to deliver exceptional pre-sales support, customer outcomes, and cross-functional alignment. This role is central to cultivating a high-performance team culture, and ensuring our customers realize maximum value from dbt Labs' solutions.
Leadership
- Lead the Solutions Architecture team for North America, in partnership with the VP of North America sales and key stakeholders
- Lead, mentor, and grow a team of high-performing solutions architects, promoting a culture of technical excellence, customer-centricity, and collaboration
- Implement scalable processes and best practices that ensure consistency and quality across solutions architecture activities
Customer Success and Solution Delivery
- Partner with Sales, Customer Success, and Product teams to deliver best-in-class solutions that align with customer needs and business goals
- Engage directly with key customers and partners to understand their needs, create alignment, and foster long-term relationships
- Serve as an escalation point and a trusted advisor for strategic customers, navigating complex technical and business challenges
Technical Expertise and Enablement
- Maintain a deep understanding of dbt Labs’ product suite, industry best practices, and emerging technologies to drive innovation in solutions architecture
- Establish a robust enablement program to support the continuous development of technical and consultative skills within the team, with a heavy emphasis on pipeline generation
- Act as a subject matter expert, sharing technical insights and providing guidance on complex solutions design and implementation
Cross-functional Collaboration and Influence
- Collaborate with Sales, Services, Product, Engineering, Marketing, and other key functions to align solutions architecture initiatives with broader company objectives
- Champion the voice of the customer, working cross-functionally to provide feedback on product enhancements and influence roadmap prioritization
Metrics and Performance Management
- Regularly review and optimize team performance, processes, and resource allocation to meet evolving business needs and customer expectations
- Ensure that solutions architecture efforts contribute to customer success metrics such as retention, satisfaction, and expansion
What You'll Need
- 9+ years of industry experience in a pre-sales capacity with 5+ years of second line management experience (recruiting, ramping, and retaining top talent)
- Industry experience across data warehousing, analytics, business intelligence, data engineering, or data science
- Proven track record in driving revenue growth and achieving sales targets in fast-paced environments
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or equivalent experience through work experience
