Overview
About the Role - This Senior Financial Insights Analyst is a cross functional role which requires the ability to deeply engage with our financial and transactional data, perform deep analysis, and craft / present compelling narratives based on your findings. This is a highly impactful role whose mandate is to deepen Instacart’s Retail Partnerships, identify and close areas of financial leakage, and deeply understand Instacart’s flow of funds. About the Team - The team sits in the center of our broader Finance organization and it is responsible for identifying and closing areas of P&L leakage, working through invoice challenges with retailers, and being experts in the broader Instacart financial ecosystem.
About the Job
This is a highly visible role with the opportunity for real impact. Invoicing our retailers correctly is a key operational responsibility that impacts our financial success and establishes trust between Instacart and our retailer partners. Key characteristics will include:
- Very comfortable with Google Slides and/or Microsoft Powerpoint; is able to make slide decks that clearly explain our findings in the data.
- Highly comfortable in SQL to immerse in Instacart’s vast database, pull together the relevant datasets, conduct analysis on the data to extract the key insights. Strong Excel / Google Sheets experience as well. Bonus points for Python skills.
- Understands the big picture, but dives deeper into the details in order to become an expert in all aspects of the invoicing process. No detail is too small for you.
- Conduct deep dive analysis that uncovers the root cause of invoicing issues, or to unearth insights.
- Develop an expert-level understanding of Instacart’s marketplace data, reporting capabilities, and invoicing processes.
- Constantly prioritizing time to make sure you’re working on the most impactful things
- Maintain strong stakeholder relationships both internally and externally
- Create dashboards, monitor trends - bonus points for experience with Mode.
About You
Minimum Qualifications
- 3+ years of professional experience.
- Crafting a compelling narrative; the ability to identify the insights that are most impactful in answering the key question and an ability to combine those insights into an easy to understand, visually appealing story that helps convince the grocery partner to take action. Very comfortable with Powerpoint / Google Sides. Must have!
- Experience writing advanced SQL queries is a must
- Ability to connect large data sets from multiple systems
- Strong analytical and technical skills; a strong understanding of data and how to structure it to get at the answers we need efficiently
- Dealing with ambiguity; the ability to quickly deconstruct a problem into its most important components, have a good sense of where digging deeper will likely yield results, and coming up with an efficient and high quality approach to solving the problem
- Great composure, comfortable in front of external audiences and in tough conversations
Preferred Qualifications
- Online marketplace experience or experience working with point-of-sale data
- Experience in external-facing roles (e.g., consulting, banking, other external roles)
