Job Description

ABOUT ROCKET MONEY 🔮

Rocket Money’s mission is to meaningfully improve the financial prosperity of millions of people. Rocket Money offers members a unique understanding of their finances and a suite of valuable services that save them time and money – ultimately giving them a leg up on their financial journey.

ABOUT THE TEAM 🤝

The Card group is focused on building world-class credit card experiences that leverage the Rocket ecosystem to help our customers improve their financial health. Whether it’s building credit, staying out of debt, or paying down your mortgage sooner, we’re developing a suite of products to help people reach their financial goals. We work across the stack to bring joy to a number of key flows in the credit card lifecycle, including but not limited to:

  • Securely applying for credit cards within the Rocket Money web and mobile app
  • Provisioning both physical cards (shipped to members) and virtual cards (pushed to mobile wallets)
  • Helping users to stay on top of their credit card payments using innovative solutions like SmartPay and Late Fee Protection
  • Earning rewards for credit card spend
  • Reacting to card swipes in real time to block potentially invalid charges

IN THIS ROLE, YOU'LL:

  • Work in a cross-functional team of engineers, product managers, designers, analysts, and more to deliver a high-impact product to our members in the form of a credit card with which to make their daily purchases.
  • Own complex features end-to-end, from initial product & technical design stages through to production, ensuring the appropriate engineering rigor has been applied as we put these financial products in front of our members.
  • Develop with TypeScript across the stack, building user interfaces using React[-Native] and the backend support required to power them with Node.js, GraphQL, and PostgreSQL.
  • Be a steward of good user experience, ensuring that the interfaces we present our users are performant, understandable, and delightful.
  • Help to maintain our high technical bar, participating in code reviews and design discussions to ensure that we're applying appropriate rigor to our software development process.

ABOUT YOU 🦄

  • You have 6+ years of professional experience working with some combination of Node.js/TypeScript, React (or similar framework), GraphQL, and Postgres (or similar relational database).
  • You consistently deliver high-quality work and are relentlessly focused on driving business impact.
  • You demonstrate proactive, self-driven approach to problem-solving and focus on continuous improvement while also collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • You hold yourself accountable to your work, following up on the changes you've shipped to ensure they are working as expected and driving value.
  • You're both a student and a teacher, continually seeking to grow as an engineer and help those around you grow as well.
  • You're not just interested in what you're building, but also why you're building it. You want to see the bigger picture of how the software you‘re building is benefitting our users.
  • You have a collaborator mindset and are able to break technical work up into pieces and coordinate them with others on the team to ship software more quickly while still maintaining a cohesive application.

WE OFFER 💫

  • Health, Dental & Vision Plans
  • Life Insurance
  • Long/Short Term Disability
  • Competitive Pay
  • 401k Matching
  • Team Member Stock Purchasing Program (TMSPP)
  • Learning & Development Opportunities
  • Tuition Reimbursement

  • Daily Lunch, Snacks & Coffee (in-office only)
  • Commuter benefits (in-office only)

Safe Remote Job Search Tips

Verify Employer Thoroughly

Research the company's identity thoroughly before applying. Check for a professional website with contacts, active social media, and LinkedIn profiles. Verify details across platforms and look for reviews on Glassdoor or Trustpilot to confirm legitimacy.

Never Pay to Get a Job

Legitimate employers never require payment for applications, training, background checks, or equipment. Always reject upfront payment requests or demands for bank details, even if they claim it's for purchasing necessary work gear on your behalf.

Safeguard Your Personal Information

Protect sensitive data like SSN, bank details, or ID copies. Share this only after accepting a formal, written job offer. Ensure it's submitted via a secure company system or portal, never through insecure channels like standard email attachments.

Scrutinize Communication & Interviews

Watch for communication red flags: poor grammar, generic emails (@gmail), vague details, or undue pressure. Be highly suspicious of interviews held only via text or chat apps; legitimate companies typically use video or phone calls.

Beware of Unrealistic Offers

If an offer's salary or benefits seem unrealistically high for the work involved, be cautious. Research standard pay for similar roles. Offers that appear 'too good to be true' are often scams designed to lure you into providing information or payment.

Insist on a Formal Contract

Always secure and review a formal, written job offer or employment contract before starting work or sharing final personal details. Ensure it clearly defines your role, compensation, key terms, and conditions to avoid misunderstandings or scams.
