You will join the subdivision that focuses on data infrastructure & observability.

As the Senior Infrastructure Engineer joining this team, you will get the opportunity to contribute to 3 areas:

  1. Managing the Lakehouse (Databricks) infrastructure, including access control, security, and observability.
  2. Continuously enhance data infrastructure observability, with a focus on cost and usage efficiency within the data engineering space.
  3. Improve the build-test-deploy-monitor pattern for data apps and stack like Change Data Capture, Spark, Kafka, etc.

We would love to hear from you if you are passionate about infrastructure and observability!

Position Location - This role is available in the following locations: Remote, San Mateo, Columbus, Austin

Time Zone Requirements - This team operates across all U.S. time zones.

  • Improve developer efficiency and infrastructure reliability by working with cross-functional stakeholders like Data Engineering, Machine Learning, Analytics, Compliance, and Security.
  • Improve Lakehouse security, usage efficiency, and observability by collaborating closely with the Data Engineering and Security teams.
  • Evangelize good coding and engineering best practices while uplifting fellow engineers and mentoring junior team members.
  • Help break down complex projects and requirements into quarterly commitments and sprints.
  • Provide top tier support for our data apps and keep them highly available

What we’re looking for:

  • Minimum requirements:
    • A bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field.
    • 5+ years of experience in infrastructure engineering, DevOps or related fields, with a strong focus on data infrastructure (bonus).
    • Hands-on experience in AWS cloud services (EC2, SQS, S3, Lambda, EKS).
    • Strong experience working with Python or similar scripting languages.
    • Strong DevOps/SRE knowledge and expertise in multiple areas, including scripting, IaC, automation, configuration management, and containerization/container orchestration (Kubernetes).
    • Ability to approach problems with first principles thinking, embrace ambiguity, and enjoy collaborative work on complex solutions.
    • Hands-on experience with both open-source and enterprise application performance monitoring solutions.
  • Preferred qualifications:
    • Strong foundation in algorithms and data structures, with an emphasis on real-world applications.
    • Proficient in DevOps engineering, leveraging Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) tools such as Kubernetes, Jenkins, CDK, APM, Terraform, and more. Experienced in automation, alerting, monitoring, security, and declarative infrastructure.
    • Solid understanding of cloud networking fundamentals.

Safe Remote Job Search Tips

Verify Employer Thoroughly

Research the company's identity thoroughly before applying. Check for a professional website with contacts, active social media, and LinkedIn profiles. Verify details across platforms and look for reviews on Glassdoor or Trustpilot to confirm legitimacy.

Never Pay to Get a Job

Legitimate employers never require payment for applications, training, background checks, or equipment. Always reject upfront payment requests or demands for bank details, even if they claim it's for purchasing necessary work gear on your behalf.

Safeguard Your Personal Information

Protect sensitive data like SSN, bank details, or ID copies. Share this only after accepting a formal, written job offer. Ensure it's submitted via a secure company system or portal, never through insecure channels like standard email attachments.

Scrutinize Communication & Interviews

Watch for communication red flags: poor grammar, generic emails (@gmail), vague details, or undue pressure. Be highly suspicious of interviews held only via text or chat apps; legitimate companies typically use video or phone calls.

Beware of Unrealistic Offers

If an offer's salary or benefits seem unrealistically high for the work involved, be cautious. Research standard pay for similar roles. Offers that appear 'too good to be true' are often scams designed to lure you into providing information or payment.

Insist on a Formal Contract

Always secure and review a formal, written job offer or employment contract before starting work or sharing final personal details. Ensure it clearly defines your role, compensation, key terms, and conditions to avoid misunderstandings or scams.
