⭐Our Design team

We’re a team of 80+ designers, researchers, and brand experts led by Chief Design Officer Vuokko Aro. We’re on a mission to make money work for everyone. Product Design makes up almost half of our Design org, which also includes User Research and Brand Design, working in tight-knit squads alongside research, product, and engineering to solve real customer problems at scale.

We design for "magic moments"

We’ve built a bank that feels human, not just functional. Our product is our personality. We blend customer empathy, design thinking, and craft to turn everyday interactions into memorable experiences.

Right now, we’re growing fast and looking for passionate designers to shape Monzo’s future and there’s a huge opportunity to make your mark.

💬 What the role is about…

We’re on the lookout for a talented Design Systems Product Designer with a knack for creating cohesive and scalable app and web experiences. This role focuses on expanding and evolving our existing Design Systems across channels, establishing a best-in-class system for our personal and business banking customers, aiming to bring consistency and efficiency across all our growing surfaces on web and app.

As we aim to craft and develop a cohesive design language across our app, web, and other digital experiences, you’ll play a pivotal role in elevating, accelerating and maintaining our Design Systems. Your work will directly enable our designers across collectives to contribute more effectively, ensuring a seamless end to end user experience.

🔑 You’ll play a key role through...

  • Design System strategy: Contributing towards the Monzo Design Systems vision by building on our existing foundations and embedding delight into our components and patterns.
  • Consistency across platforms: Ensuring uniformity and coherence in Monzo’s experience across platforms and channels, enhancing the customer journey from the outset.
  • Scalability: Scaling the Design Systems across channels to ensure our product adapts seamlessly as we launch in new markets, respecting cultural specificities without compromising our global brand.
  • Design System evolution: Helping expand and evolve a Business Banking Web Design System, defining how the web channel complements the Native experience, and ensuring a coherent approach that leverages existing universal foundations.
  • .com: Building the Design System for the .com sites, providing a robust framework that enables adaptability, responsiveness and flexibility to design and build a seamless experience for our prospect customers, whilst enabling our growth teams to experiment.
  • Componentisation: Accelerating the componentisation of existing designs into a scalable system, enabling other designers to contribute to their squads more efficiently.
  • Collaboration and support: Working closely with the Lead Product Designer, product managers and engineers to integrate the Design System with the Storybook components used by engineering teams.
  • Contribution to our Monzo brand: Working in collaboration with the brand team to ensure our Design System brings the best of our Monzo brand and usability best practice principles.

🤩 We’d love to hear from you if you have…

  • Experience at scale: Proven experience in design systems and product design across channels, for complex products within fast-paced environments.
  • Technical skills: Proficiency in Figma, with a strong portfolio showcasing componentisation work and design system development.
  • Collaborative spirit: Ability to collaborate across departments and work as part of a team to drive project success.
  • Problem-solving mindset: An innovative thinker who can propose solutions to harmonise and unify diverse design elements across multiple platforms, keeping up with the latest technology in their field.
  • Detail-oriented: Strong attention to detail with experience designing microinteractions and haptics, maintaining quality along with speed in a dynamic working environment.

Safe Remote Job Search Tips

Verify Employer Thoroughly

Research the company's identity thoroughly before applying. Check for a professional website with contacts, active social media, and LinkedIn profiles. Verify details across platforms and look for reviews on Glassdoor or Trustpilot to confirm legitimacy.

Never Pay to Get a Job

Legitimate employers never require payment for applications, training, background checks, or equipment. Always reject upfront payment requests or demands for bank details, even if they claim it's for purchasing necessary work gear on your behalf.

Safeguard Your Personal Information

Protect sensitive data like SSN, bank details, or ID copies. Share this only after accepting a formal, written job offer. Ensure it's submitted via a secure company system or portal, never through insecure channels like standard email attachments.

Scrutinize Communication & Interviews

Watch for communication red flags: poor grammar, generic emails (@gmail), vague details, or undue pressure. Be highly suspicious of interviews held only via text or chat apps; legitimate companies typically use video or phone calls.

Beware of Unrealistic Offers

If an offer's salary or benefits seem unrealistically high for the work involved, be cautious. Research standard pay for similar roles. Offers that appear 'too good to be true' are often scams designed to lure you into providing information or payment.

Insist on a Formal Contract

Always secure and review a formal, written job offer or employment contract before starting work or sharing final personal details. Ensure it clearly defines your role, compensation, key terms, and conditions to avoid misunderstandings or scams.
