Job Description

“Perfection is attained not when there is nothing more to add, but when there is nothing more to take away.”
– Antoine de Saint-Exupéry

At Mercury, we’re building the financial infrastructure for modern builders: tools that help founders operate with clarity, confidence, and control. We believe the bank* of the future won’t just store money, it will be how people build great things.

Founders come to Mercury for more than an account. They come to run their business with greater clarity, confidence, and control. The Activation team guides that journey, helping customers understand what’s possible, take meaningful steps forward, and feel momentum from the very beginning.

We’re looking for a product manager to lead this effort: to guide customers from their first deposit to their first “aha” moment, and to design the systems that help them keep discovering value every single day. Done well, this work is invisible but essential, more choreography than funnel, more intuition than automation.

About the team

Activation is one of the most important levers we have to grow Mercury, and to grow with intention. It’s how we turn new signups into enduring customers, introduce the full depth of what Mercury can do, and create the foundation for long-term relationships.

This role is at the center of that motion. You’ll help shape how people first experience Mercury, guide them toward value, and design systems that help them build trust, momentum, and confidence. It’s subtle, foundational work, quietly powerful in shaping how our customers grow, and how we grow with them.

*Mercury is a financial technology company, not a bank. Banking services provided through Choice Financial Group, Column N.A., and Evolve Bank & Trust, Members FDIC.

What you’ll do

  • Own the end-to-end user journey from deposit to meaningful engagement, increasing the likelihood that customers take their next best step – whether that’s sending a payment, creating a card, or adopting a financial workflow.
  • Proactively discover and define opportunities to level up the craft, strategy, and execution of our Activation team
  • Set the direction and define prioritized roadmaps for the team; ensuring we’re focused on work that solves user problems, enables product teams, and maximizes customer value
  • Build systems that drive activation through in-product experiences, lifecycle marketing, and experimentation across surfaces like the dashboard and onboarding flow.
  • Define customer lifecycle strategies for different segments and product surfaces, identifying key inflection points and sequencing the right product interventions.
  • Partner cross-functionally with Growth Marketing, Revenue, and Product teams to align activation efforts with broader customer journey and business goals.
  • Use data and user insights to develop hypotheses, design experiments, and measure impact; not just feature usage, but customer progress and business value.
  • Help develop sticky experiences that make it simple for customers to adopt and find repeatable value across our platform.

What sets you up for success

We’re looking for a motivated product leader who cares deeply about craft and feels energized by opportunities to work across product teams to deliver a cohesive experience for our users. A successful candidate will likely have:

  • 7+ years of product management experience, ideally with horizontal, platform, or lifecycle teams; especially those accountable for delivering a quality user experience across surfaces. Bonus points for owning customer journeys or growth funnels in a product-led company.
  • Strong product intuition, with the ability to turn complex, cross-cutting problems into clear strategy, and to bring others along with your thinking.
  • Comfort working across disciplines, you’ve collaborated with design, engineering, marketing, and data teams, and know how to drive momentum even when no one reports to you.
  • A hands-on approach to execution, you’re just as comfortable getting into the details of UX, lifecycle triggers, or onboarding copy as you are shaping vision or setting goals.
  • Enthusiasm for working with talented (and opinionated) peers, and the maturity to engage thoughtfully and openly in a collaborative environment.

The total rewards package at Mercury includes base salary, equity (stock options), and benefits.

Our salary and equity ranges are highly competitive within the SaaS and fintech industry and are updated regularly using the most reliable compensation survey data for our industry. New hire offers are made based on a candidate’s experience, expertise, geographic location, and internal pay equity relative to peers.

Our target new hire base salary ranges for this role are the following:

  • US employees (any location): $200,700 - $250,900 USD
  • Canadian employees (any location): CAD 189,700 - 237,100

Safe Remote Job Search Tips

Verify Employer Thoroughly

Research the company's identity thoroughly before applying. Check for a professional website with contacts, active social media, and LinkedIn profiles. Verify details across platforms and look for reviews on Glassdoor or Trustpilot to confirm legitimacy.

Never Pay to Get a Job

Legitimate employers never require payment for applications, training, background checks, or equipment. Always reject upfront payment requests or demands for bank details, even if they claim it's for purchasing necessary work gear on your behalf.

Safeguard Your Personal Information

Protect sensitive data like SSN, bank details, or ID copies. Share this only after accepting a formal, written job offer. Ensure it's submitted via a secure company system or portal, never through insecure channels like standard email attachments.

Scrutinize Communication & Interviews

Watch for communication red flags: poor grammar, generic emails (@gmail), vague details, or undue pressure. Be highly suspicious of interviews held only via text or chat apps; legitimate companies typically use video or phone calls.

Beware of Unrealistic Offers

If an offer's salary or benefits seem unrealistically high for the work involved, be cautious. Research standard pay for similar roles. Offers that appear 'too good to be true' are often scams designed to lure you into providing information or payment.

Insist on a Formal Contract

Always secure and review a formal, written job offer or employment contract before starting work or sharing final personal details. Ensure it clearly defines your role, compensation, key terms, and conditions to avoid misunderstandings or scams.
