Job Description
About the Role
As Lead Platform Product Manager at Roo, you’ll own the strategy and execution for the core systems, tools, and services that power our labor marketplace. Your work will enable faster development, greater scalability, and improved reliability across the product. You’ll partner closely with engineering, design, analytics, and department leaders to create reusable infrastructure that unlocks value for both internal teams and external users.
This is a high-impact role focused on building the foundation that other teams build on. You’ll work on both zero-to-one platform investments and scaling efforts that reduce complexity and accelerate product velocity. Your success will be measured by adoption, performance, and the leverage your team creates across the company.
This role reports directly to the VP of Product and is remote-friendly, with occasional onsite collaboration in our San Francisco office.
Your Responsibilities
- Develop and align your team around a clear platform strategy that supports Roo’s marketplace growth.
- Own and evolve the roadmap for Roo’s internal platform systems that balances core marketplace services and functional enablement
- Identify and eliminate technical bottlenecks, inefficiencies, or duplication across teams.
- Collaborate with engineering to make thoughtful build-vs-buy decisions and ensure architectural investments align with company goals.
- Use metrics to measure impact and prioritize effectively.
- Partner with cross-functional teams to ensure platform capabilities enable product innovation and improve user outcomes.
- Communicate technical strategy and tradeoffs clearly to non-technical stakeholders.
- Contribute to company-wide product strategy and shape how platform thinking is embedded into Roo’s product culture.
Qualifications
- 6+ years of product management experience, including 2+ years focused on platform, infrastructure, or developer tooling.
- Proven ability to define and deliver cross-cutting systems or services adopted by multiple teams.
- Strong technical fluency—you can collaborate closely with engineers and understand architectural tradeoffs.
- Skilled at prioritization and decision-making in ambiguous environments with multiple stakeholders.
- Excellent communicator with a track record of building trust across product, engineering, and operations teams.
- Experience using data (quantitative and qualitative) to inform platform investments and monitor performance.
- Strong ownership mindset with a bias for action and outcome over output.
- Bonus: Experience in marketplaces, healthcare tech, or scaling products at an early-stage startup.
While we are a remote first company, if you are based in San Francisco this will be a hybrid role. Please see below for examples of compensation ranges based on state averages.
Exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience, and location.
- Accelerated growth & learning potential.
- Stipends for home office setup, continuing education, and monthly wellness.
- Comprehensive health benefits to fit your needs with base medical plan covered at 100% with optional premium buy up plans.
- 401K
- Unlimited Paid Time Off.

Verify Employer Thoroughly
Research the company's identity thoroughly before applying. Check for a professional website with contacts, active social media, and LinkedIn profiles. Verify details across platforms and look for reviews on Glassdoor or Trustpilot to confirm legitimacy.
Never Pay to Get a Job
Legitimate employers never require payment for applications, training, background checks, or equipment. Always reject upfront payment requests or demands for bank details, even if they claim it's for purchasing necessary work gear on your behalf.
Safeguard Your Personal Information
Protect sensitive data like SSN, bank details, or ID copies. Share this only after accepting a formal, written job offer. Ensure it's submitted via a secure company system or portal, never through insecure channels like standard email attachments.
Scrutinize Communication & Interviews
Watch for communication red flags: poor grammar, generic emails (@gmail), vague details, or undue pressure. Be highly suspicious of interviews held only via text or chat apps; legitimate companies typically use video or phone calls.
Beware of Unrealistic Offers
If an offer's salary or benefits seem unrealistically high for the work involved, be cautious. Research standard pay for similar roles. Offers that appear 'too good to be true' are often scams designed to lure you into providing information or payment.
Insist on a Formal Contract
Always secure and review a formal, written job offer or employment contract before starting work or sharing final personal details. Ensure it clearly defines your role, compensation, key terms, and conditions to avoid misunderstandings or scams.
