Job Description

Maven is the gold standard in post-grad education for ambitious professionals. We’re looking for a hands-on product marketer to own our instructor-facing messaging and positioning with the goal of driving instructor acquisition and success.

Role Overview

From seasoned operators to rising experts, our instructors trust us to help them grow their professional brand, run world-class learning experiences, and reach students who are eager to accelerate their careers.

As our Senior Product Marketing Manager, you’ll lead instructor-facing messaging and positioning for those considering Maven as their teaching platform. You’ll identify what makes us stand out (and what doesn’t), craft narratives that resonate, and bring those stories to life across touchpoints, from landing pages and outbound emails to product education and instructor onboarding. You’ll also drive insights through research and experimentation, and use those learnings to supercharge our instructor acquisition, activation, and first cohort success.

To succeed in this role, you’ll focus on three core instructor-facing areas:

Messaging and positioning

  • Define our value proposition for instructors across segments (e.g. emerging vs established instructors, full-time vs side-hustlers)
  • Partner with product, sales, and growth teams to improve resonance and instructor conversion throughout acquisition, onboarding and activation efforts
  • Launch new features and programs with clear, compelling go-to-market strategies

Customer research

  • Lead qualitative and quantitative research to deeply understand instructor motivations, behaviors, and objections
  • Synthesize insights into instructor personas, messaging frameworks, and segmentation strategies
  • Keep a pulse on industry trends and competitive positioning to help us continue to engage the most relevant instructors for learners

Execution and learning

  • Turn insights into content - landing pages, ads, emails, case studies, educational resources, product demos, explainers etc.
  • Measure what’s working and what’s not, and adjust strategy accordingly

What We’re Looking For In This Role

  • Strong experience in product marketing, ideally in a B2C or marketplace context
  • Ability to craft sharp positioning and write crisp, high-converting copy
  • Fluency in both qualitative research and data analysis, and knowledge of when to use each
  • A track record of launching new products or features with clear impact
  • Comfort with ambiguity and moving fast without sacrificing quality
  • Familiarity with the creator or expert economy, or an excitement to dive in

This role is high-impact and highly cross-functional. You’ll be the connective tissue between product, growth, brand, and instructor acquisition - making sure we not only build the right things, but say the right things to the right people, at the right time.

Team & Culture

This role reports to Mallory (VP, Growth) and works alongside Claire (Instructor Acquisition). Maven is committed to having a small, empowered team (currently 18 total), so you should be excited to do your own customer research, strategic thinking, project management, and end-to-end execution.

We are high-ownership, but we are also high-collaboration. We all post regular status updates to dedicated slack channels to get input. If you’re blocked everyone is there to help (but otherwise we’ll assume you’re on it). This makes Maven a great cross-functional learning environment. Expect direct feedback!

Ownership, collaboration and feedback are not just nice ideas here; we are fully remote, so they are the foundation of our success, and we are intentional about them. We are a writing-focused company, with no-meeting Wednesdays for creative space. We gather for a week-long offsite twice a year so everyone in our lean and talented team can contribute to company strategy, and get absurdly competitive over random games.

Compensation

$150k-$200k in salary, with strong benefits, and equity.

Salary is open to review based on candidate experience; please apply if you know you’re a great candidate.

Location

Remote; US time zone +/- 1hr

Safe Remote Job Search Tips

Verify Employer Thoroughly

Research the company's identity thoroughly before applying. Check for a professional website with contacts, active social media, and LinkedIn profiles. Verify details across platforms and look for reviews on Glassdoor or Trustpilot to confirm legitimacy.

Never Pay to Get a Job

Legitimate employers never require payment for applications, training, background checks, or equipment. Always reject upfront payment requests or demands for bank details, even if they claim it's for purchasing necessary work gear on your behalf.

Safeguard Your Personal Information

Protect sensitive data like SSN, bank details, or ID copies. Share this only after accepting a formal, written job offer. Ensure it's submitted via a secure company system or portal, never through insecure channels like standard email attachments.

Scrutinize Communication & Interviews

Watch for communication red flags: poor grammar, generic emails (@gmail), vague details, or undue pressure. Be highly suspicious of interviews held only via text or chat apps; legitimate companies typically use video or phone calls.

Beware of Unrealistic Offers

If an offer's salary or benefits seem unrealistically high for the work involved, be cautious. Research standard pay for similar roles. Offers that appear 'too good to be true' are often scams designed to lure you into providing information or payment.

Insist on a Formal Contract

Always secure and review a formal, written job offer or employment contract before starting work or sharing final personal details. Ensure it clearly defines your role, compensation, key terms, and conditions to avoid misunderstandings or scams.
