THE OPPORTUNITY
We are hiring a Senior Backend Software Engineer to our GPS - Payments team in Brazil!
Responsible for the platform that serves the entire Wellhub business, processing millions of transactions for users and companies around the globe. We work closely with cross-functional teams and payment service providers to deliver optimum checkout conversion rates and efficient account management interactions.
We are creating a new architecture and set of systems that will guarantee consistency across multiple areas and services.
YOUR IMPACT
You will research and execute strategic projects along with your team. Your deliverables influence B2B and B2C checkout conversion around the globe by both creating new payment mechanisms and improving/maintaining existing ones.
Together with the technical leadership, you will implement and deliver solutions working with a cross-functional team.
You will have the opportunity to develop leadership skills, working closely with mid-level and junior engineers and help them speed up their learning curve. You will also have opportunities to develop engineering skills by getting involved in scalability problems, system architecture, and code quality assurance, among others.
- Participate in the development of some of the most critical and challenging services in our ecosystem, seeking to build long-term and sustainable solutions.
- Design, develop, test, deploy, maintain, and improve services focusing on performance, scalability, and resilience;
- Build Integration with 3rd party API and tools.
- Work in a collaborative and agile environment that prioritizes people over process.
- Work with cutting-edge technologies and edge cases on a global scale.

WHO YOU ARE
- Commitment to delivering high-quality, maintainable solutions and continuously improving processes
- Proven experience designing and implementing RESTful APIs using Java/Kotlin with Spring Framework (primary technology stack).
- Strong knowledge of asynchronous processing, message queuing, and retry/backoff strategies for reliable system communication
- Solid software architecture expertise, including:
- Event-driven architectures
- Domain-Driven Design (DDD)
- Hexagonal / Ports & Adapters architecture
- Strong software quality orientation with proficiency in automated testing (unit, integration and e2e tests)
- Hands-on experience with AWS Cloud Services and Cloud-Native environments (Kubernetes, container orchestration, service discovery).
- Expertise in designing and implementing observability and traceability strategies, including distributed tracing, centralized logging, and metrics instrumentation.
- Proven track record with microservices architectures, high-throughput distributed systems, and resilience engineering techniques (circuit breakers, retries, fallback mechanisms).
- Demonstrated ownership of technical decisions, architectural trade-offs, and phased delivery strategies throughout career.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent professional experience.
Additional Desirables:
- Experience developing services in Go.
- Practical experience with serverless architectures (e.g., AWS Lambda, Google Cloud Functions).
- Working knowledge of NoSQL databases (e.g., DynamoDB, MongoDB, Cassandra).
- Proficiency with Infrastructure as Code tools (e.g., Terraform).
- Experience with progressive delivery strategies such as blue-green deployments, canary releases, and feature flagging.
