Clariti is seeking an experienced Senior Software Engineer on our Launch Platform to join our core platform engineering team focused on building robust backend systems that power government technology solutions. In this role, you will be a technical leader contributing to the design, development, and maintenance of scalable APIs and systems that serve agencies and citizens nationwide. You'll work on highly-modular, core systems of record built from the ground up, introducing automation into complex government workflows and developing new models for interaction between governments and citizens.You will be instrumental in driving technical excellence and innovation within our platform team. You'll partner closely with Product Management and cross-functional teams to explore new possibilities, represent engineering perspectives, and deliver software solutions that have significant business and customer impact. You will play a vital role in building technology that is used daily by both citizens and government employees.

As a Senior Software Engineer for Clariti Launch, you’ll get to:

  • Lead & Architect the future of Clariti Launch:
    • Lead technical and architecture sessions, contributing to roadmaps and objective documents that shape our platform strategy.
    • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to other engineers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and best practices.
    • Evaluate and execute on new technologies, pushing for innovation and technical excellence across our technology stack.
    • Champion bold and innovative technical approaches, setting audacious goals and fostering a growth mindset that encourages experimentation and adoption of new technologies.
    • Partner with Staff Engineers and architects to ensure alignment with overall technical strategy and company-wide technical initiatives.
  • Build & Deliver:
    • Design, build, and maintain a comprehensive set of APIs that manage and consume Clariti Launch Platform data 24/7, serving multiple teams and customers.
    • Develop cloud-based applications with incredible attention to detail and a keen sense for when enough is enough.
    • Contribute to building a highly-modular, core system of record for agencies from the ground up.
    • Drive project execution, manage technical priorities, remove blockers, and ensure delivery of results across multiple impactful projects with a high standard of quality.
    • Actively seek out and eliminate sources of technical debt, prioritizing work that leads to lower maintenance, measurable impact, and system reliability.
    • Own the resolution of technical issues within your sphere of responsibility, driving urgency, and learning from incidents.
  • Technical Contribution & Innovation:
    • Actively contribute to the codebase through design, coding, and comprehensive code reviews, maintaining proficiency in our core technology stack (Ruby/Rails, React, Expo, Postgres, K8S, AWS).
    • Assess and maintain a high bar for technical aptitude in new hires, contributing to technical interviewing and evaluation processes.
    • Push for best practices in our technology stack and across our company, ensuring code quality, performance, and maintainability.
    • Introduce automation into some of the most complex government workflows, leveraging your technical expertise to solve challenging problems.
    • Design and implement backend systems that scale to support agencies and citizens across the country.
  • Collaborate & Influence:
    • Partner with our Product team to explore new possibilities, represent Engineering perspectives, and translate business needs into technical solutions.
    • Build healthy partnerships with cross-functional teams (Product Management, Design, other Engineering teams), effectively influencing outcomes and technical decisions.
    • Communicate technical decisions and architectural choices effectively, ensuring context, understanding, and alignment across teams.
    • Identify new technical opportunities that have significant customer, organizational, or platform-wide impact.
    • Actively participate in hiring and assessment processes to build and retain a diverse and talented team.

What do you bring to the team? 🧠

  • Technical Expertise: 5+ years of industry experience developing SaaS-based solutions with demonstrated ability to develop cloud-based applications.
  • Platform Development: Strong foundation in backend development and API design, with experience building scalable, maintainable systems that serve multiple clients.
  • Technology Stack: Familiarity with some or all of our current tech stack: Ruby/Rails, React, Expo, Postgres, K8S, AWS. Deep expertise in at least one area with a willingness to learn others.
  • Technical Judgment: Incredible attention to detail along with a keen sense for when enough is enough - balancing perfectionism with pragmatic delivery.
  • Problem Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail and ability to work through complex technical challenges.
  • Collaboration & Communication: Excellent communication skills and proven ability to collaborate effectively with technical and non-technical partners, manage ambiguity, and influence technical decisions.
  • Strategic Thinking: Experience contributing to technical strategy, making informed decisions that balance technical trade-offs, customer value, and business needs.
  • Growth Mindset: Self-awareness, a proactive approach to feedback and self-development, and a passion for continuous learning and technical improvement.
  • Education: A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field is preferred.

  • Recent experience leading one or more small, full-stack or backend software development teams (preferred but not required).
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, scaling SaaS environment.
  • Previous experience building systems of record or platform solutions used by multiple clients.
  • Experience working in government technology or regulated industries.

💰 The base salary range for this role is expected to be between $103,000- $160,000 based on the candidate’s skills, experience, and qualifications while considering internal pay equity and our broader pay philosophy. 💰

Travel- Although we operate as a remote company, all roles are expected to participate in occasional travel for in-person company-wide or departmental meetings, typically 1-2 times per year. Additional travel requirements specific to the role, if any, will be outlined in the job description.
